I just noticed yesterday that coupons began appearing on my Garmin screen when I was stopped for over 5 minutes. This must be from the Map people??

Has anyone found a Ghost town Icon in .bmp format?? I try to use the headstone icon for cemeteries, but would also like to mark a few ghost towns with a unique icon.

I also found out that I can use more than 40 custom icons (up to 44 so far) in my Mapsouce files - I hope they'll all work on my 276c when installed???

Help! I'm new here - Not sure what I am doing wrong ...

From this site, I have downloaded .bmp icons (map symbols) of some of my favorite places (Starbucks, Borders Books, etc). I have placed them onto a folder on my desktop called Garmin_bmps - now what?

Dear Friends,
I just replaced my 650 with a 1490T. After I loaded the Custom POIs, a little balloon opened with the message and I only heard the default bong -- it did not play the custom sound. I had not changed anything from the way in which I loaded the Custom POIs into my 650. Does anyone have a solution, please?

When I go into simulation, my 1390T stays on speed limit on interstates even though I typically drive 5-10 over. So does the 1390T not learn driving speeds or does it just not use them in simulation as my 660 did?

Not wanting to start a debate about "what is the best GPS device"...I'm kinda a Garmin guy....but I do have a question wrt to the devices themselves...

Both the Nuvi and Oregon series can handle street maps and topo maps, but obviously street maps are native to the Nuvis and topos are native to the Oregon.

My question is.....

Can anyone tell me if there is a poi file of the Corp of Engineer campgrounds? Thanks for any help in this matter.

I'm a new member of the community, and I'm asking for your help: I have to go from milano, Italy yo Hannover, Germany using a experimental car filled with a mix of hydrogen and natural gas, at the moment there are few "Hytane" filling station, so I have to use simple CNG.
Where can i find Swiss and Germani maps for Garmin with CNG locations?

Apparently Garmin is really upping the ante regarding their annual map offerings, I don't know if this applies to the incremental updates for you lifetime subscribers: (The following was copied from Garmin's website)

We are making our map data even better! The North America 2011 map update is scheduled for release in late April. Check back to order a map update for your product

We're going to be driving across Kansas,Missouri, Illinois,Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and into New Brunswick, Canada. Does anybody know if any of these states or New Brunswick bans GPS devices attached to the windshield? Thanks in advance. Williea

Can I add POI to my Honda Goldwing GPS?

Against my better judgment, I just purchased a 1490T and I am awaiting delivery. I say against my better judgment because of the T=ads thing. Is there a way to turn off the ads unless I am using the traffic reports or will the ads be constant no matter what(hope not as I will return it if that is the case)?

I uploaded a few POI lists from POI Factory to my Nuvi and 60csx. Both show "Extras", but unlike Nuvi, 60csx does not show any categories after within "custom poi", for example eateries and cemeteries are shown lumped up, kind of making it meaningless for practical use.

Come to think of it, 60csx does not show categories under other "find" items...

I want to move the gmapprom.img file >1.27GB from the gps internal memory to an sd card and then delete the file from the gps? will this work?

When in 3D view, and uging the +/- buttons to change the zoom level, is there a quick way to return to the default zoom level?

On the North up view, it at least shows the zoom level, so you can see when you return to a decent driving zoom level. On 3D view, I see no such thing.

I have created a csv file in notepad.

I used the poi downloader from Garmin and the result is a location 49 miles SE of where it should be.

I have removed the file; deleted the excel file; recreated the file and tried again 3 times with the same result. I even opened up the excel file to verify that I did not mis-type.

i have a poi file named ca hot springs stuck in my favorites menu. open menu it says all fav. add book and hot spring. do i have to daleat one at a time

I have the 885T, before I did a update some months ago I was able to see at the top of the unit where the Green Bar is Turn Red with a warning for a traffic cam or tell me when I;m coming up to a POI. Now all I get is a small black box on the screen and if I don't have my glasses on I can't see it. Is there anyway I can change it back.
