I want to move the gmapprom.img file >1.27GB from the gps internal memory to an sd card and then delete the file from the gps? will this work?

You can move it to the SD

You can move it to the SD card and delete it from the internal memory, but why would you want to?

thanks. I got hold of new

thanks. I got hold of new 2010 map as a img file which is bigger than the internal memory of the gps

Ahh. Are you sure that .img

Ahh.

Are you sure that .img file will work? They're keyed to one unit and can't be moved between units. But, instead of removing the old maps from the internal memory, just disable them.

Settings (Wrench Icon)> Map > Map Info

There should be a check mark next to the old maps. Uncheck it and those maps will not show up.

The file works as tested by a friend of mine. But my issue is that my gps only have 1.21GB of total memory and the file is 1.27GB so I have to use SD card. I tried to copy the file on SD card but the gps does not see it automatically. I even removed the old file from gps but the gps will give me the error that "No detail maps are found ...."

I there a way to set the gps to look for the img file in the sd card insted of the gps's internal memory? Please

Hints

1.Your .img file has to be in a folder named "Garmin" on your SD card. If it's not, this could be a reason your GPS is not recognizing the map.

2.And something else. Img file when stored on internal memory is named gmapprom.img, but when stored on a SD card needs to be named gmapsupp.img. wink

Thanks

Thank you. I got it going after several tries. but it was the exact same reason you mentioned. once i created a folder named Garmin and named the new file as gmapsupp.img it worked.
