Your unit came with a traffic receiver with free traffic .You will receive advertisements and coupons to support this.To review advertisements touch tools then advertisements. The idea is to write the coupon number down and redeem it for the location or locations received.

See http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/2675_OwnersManual.pdf pages 27 and 28.

No at all it is delivered free of charge from Garmin, someone is paying for your free traffic.

So much for "Free" traffic

I guess nothing is free. Haven't ever seen any coupons that were useful. Has anyone else?

Can you disable the coupons without disabling traffic?

There are times when I do not want to see the coupons. Now I am constantly getting coupons for Best Western. Does anyone know how I can disable the coupons without having to disable traffic? Thank you in advance for your response.

my unit

My unit did not come with traffic, but, I subscribed it.
I have traffic, not no advertisements. I am really OK if those stuff does not bother me when I am in driving.

There Ain't No Such Thing as a Free Lunch

I am quite sure that there is NO way to disable the ads without turning off the service.

As BobDee said earlier, there is no such thing as a "free" service. You either subscribe and pay for the service (without the ads) or you get the service and suffer with the ads. That are YOUR only choices.

Future

There is a possibility that traffic will be free in the future. Garmin is going to have to compete with the smartphones that have GPS + Google traffic already installed.

Not really

That service is not free either. You pay a monthly fee to have the data delivered.

In Canada we don't have the sponsor adds (yet).
Just free traffic updates.

If you subscribed you won't see the ads, if that's what you said.

just change "but no ad.." to "no ad..".
It is Monday.

Local governments should use revenue generated from speed camera/RLC to fund FREE traffic to all GPS unit.

ads or not

I have seen posts that users who have free FM Traffic and then decide to pay for Clear Channel does not eliminate the ads.You have both services on the unit.Depending on which service is receiving the signal determines if you get the ads or not.

Yes if you just use the standard power plug.I wouldn't buy another power cord just because of the ads.Like others have stated the ads are no big deal.I have had my unit over a year now and very seldom do I ever notice the ads.

It would be easier to just disable the ads instead of the new cable. You lose the traffic though.Touch tools, settings, traffic and disable.
