i just started using my 1490LMT.
I updated w/the 2013 maps.
I have it set to fastest time and [b]traffic turned off.[/b]

1) going from NJ to Brooklyn, NY i was on the highway to the Verazono bridge when it told me to take local streets to the bridge.

2) in going from brooklyn to queens, it again told me to take local routes instead of the Belt Parkway.

I liked the EcoRoute feature on my 1490LMT but wanted something more than an estimate of my MPG.

then i found the EcoRoute HD:

questions:
1) how accurate is the MPG calcs from the HD?
2) How to use the data from the HD to improve my MPG?

I have a Nuvi 2450. It only came with a car charger.

I have been using my old Garmin charger, from my 750, with a usb plug and the power mount and it has
5V - 1.0A Max

A charger from a Motorola phone, with the mini usb has
5.0V - 550mA

What files do you need to copy from old Nuvi to maintain your favorites

unless I am going nuts, I have no clue how I am to restart my device. Have done it manyyy times before but just after my last update, and updating software on my dashboard (noticed that is is different as well), in order for the device to accept all updates I have to do a restart. I remember that for my model I have to do it manually.

Granted, this is specifically POI Factory, not MP3 Forum or JPEG Forum, but does anybody here store photographs on their Garmin Nuvi or other GPS device? I recently updated a second hand Garmin Nuvi 350 that I just bought.

Is the purpose of the BMP icons on the Garmin so that they only show up on the map as you approach the icon or will it also show up in the alert itself where the white box pops up saying how far you are from the POI.

I have a 760 along with Lifetime Maps. I was trying to update to the latest map and ran into a problem. It says that there isn't enough space on my unit for the North America or the US and Canada, I believe it was. However, there was enough room for the Lower 49 states, so that is what I downloaded.

Today, I finally went out and bought the 2455 LMT Garmin GPS I've been longing for. I recently took on a job where I have a TON of driving to do in a busy city that I moved to about a year ago. I am directionally challenged at that, so let's just say the GPS was long overdue.

I have been able to set up my Nuvi 50 so it talks! I converted the .MP3 to .WAV and POI Loader invoked sox.exe and it seemed to work...sort of.

I did a Redlight-McDonalds POI which worked if I was on the same street only. I then tried GATSO-In-N-Out and it game me a fixed radius of something like 1929 feet. It like the Redlight radius was locked in POI Loader.

Any one figured out how to download available Maps on Garmins website? Let me explain. If you login, and go to myMaps and then click Details you get all the Maps you have had on a particular unit (i'm guessing, but looks right). Some of these, it gives you an option of downloading again. Of course when you try that, it just wants to give you the newest.

On another thread, someone noted that after a pained individual figures out how to fix the problem, they often do not report back with the fix so those who come after with the same problem are flummoxed as to what to do. Here is a problem simular to mine (corrput map file) and I hope it helps someone. If you can help with a 660 that hangs up at the 'loading map' message, let me know!

I am a 2450 user and when I download routes from Mapsourse to my Nuvi and turn on the Nuvi the routes go through a calculation. This takes a little time if I have several routes.

I'm a mostly happy Nuvi 855 owner. Almost always I use simple navigation to next desired point, but in a couple of cases I do use a route. One case was to investigate the problem discussed in the [url=http://www.poi-factory.com/node/35007]Lane Assist Odd Errors[/url] thread.

Since Magellan have several different units that have 7 inch screens and now Tom Tom is releasing a model that has a 6 inch screen the question is will Garmin follow and do the same with their next generation ?

Time will tell but the overall trend going from 3.5 4.3 5.0 seems to be that bigger is better.

Was on the Garmin site and just got a note that 2013.10 is now available.

As I updated the City Navigator 2013.1 on my second hand Garmin Nuvi 350 a few days ago, I ended up removing most (or all) of the non-English voice files to make room for the map. Then I got to wondering if a certain amount of memory should be left un-used? I seem to recall reading, and hearing from others, that with personal computers a certain amount of memory should be unallocated.

Does anybody have a list of the Garmin Nuvis that use a powered cradle? My Garmin Nuvi 350 power connects to the cradle, but my wife's Garmin Nuvi 500 connects directly to the power cable.
