Garmin talk

I am looking to reduce the amount of wear on the internal battery contacts in our new eTrex 30, Oregon 450.

A new Webupdater is on the Garmin site. For Windows XP3 and later.

Their acceptance page says, partially, ...

New York State has granted Suffolk County in Long Island NY to double its Red Light camera locations from 50 to 100. Adjoining Nassau county was also approved in March to double its cameras from 50 to 100.

These two counties will have 200 cameras which is far more than many other states combined totals.

I have some custom POI's on a memory card in my Garmin Nuvi 250w. Red light cameras.

I've just downloaded POI loader, but i still can't figure out where the loader come's into play, and how to get a tour guide mode so the alerts happen automatically.

I asked this a long while back, but didn't save the information name/location.... So I ask again....

There is a file that contains all the favorites I've saved.... in my Nuvi 660....

And, If you back this up, can you reload it later in case your favorites get deleted from a reset, and by copying it back, does it reload all the favorites?

Garmin claim that the new models with Guidance 3.0 has better routing and better traffic avoidance. Anyone found it true? Is it worth upgrading?

Using a Garmin 265wt. I would like to be able to use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011 as a tracking map, but can only show the first leg of track. Does anyone know how to get the entire track to show? I've setup GPSGate to see track live, no problem, but can't get the GPX file to show.

I know we have had some Linux based Garmin Nuvis in the past, will we ever see an Android based Garmin Nuvi?

Today I discovered what I consider a glitch in the 2460's voice command.

I took a trip to a familiar location about 20 miles from home. GPS was connected but no route selected.

I have the 2460 set to "prompt" when selecting calculation mode. Traffic Trends and EcoRoute are disabled.

Note:Each command below were done from off the road and in a parking lot.

So after the horrible customer service at tom tom and 7 bad units in a row i decided to go with my new garmin nuvi 3590 lmt.

That said i do have a few questions since i been a tom-tom user.

-how to zoom in on the highlighted route without it constantly going back to it being to far zoomed out in my opinion.

-How do i create my own poi category for work and work related poi's

3 hour for first failed upload.
70 min with CS. 50 minutes of "on hold". 10 minutes of actual discussion on phone. 10 minutes of yada yada yada script reader's script reading.
I restarted the process. I returned to my computer later in the day and it now works.

Lost all personal data though.

I have an extra power cord with the traffic antenna built in to it. Can I buy the 2460LM and use the traffic cable to make it a 2460LMT ... or do I actually have to buy the LMT version of the GPS in order for the traffic features to work?

Anyone know for sure? The price diff is $60 and I already have the spare cable.

I'm trying to update the 2012.40 in my 1350 to 2013.10

The updater thinks the current map is 2012.30 and it says that its up to date and asks if I want to reinstall.

How do I resynchronize it?

i have a nuvi 1410, i inserted a 16gb card. downloaded a voice from mygarmin.com onto the sd card - but i cannot find the file on the garmin. do i need to "activate" the sd card on the garmin - or it is supposed to "sync" automatically?
I presume to find a voice download i should look in voices on the garmin?

Just picked up this unit - I know of how TomTom works with adding and finding POIs but I have some questions related to Garmin.

I am also aware of issues with the firmware 6.30 and "categorization" of custom POIs - but not 100% sure if what I want is related or unrelated to this firmware.

I have reached the point of frustation saturation with the 1490T. I like the features but the model is a lemon. Anyone here familiar with both the 1490T and 2460LMT? It seems like they are very similar, but the 2460 has 8 gb of ram compared to the underwhelming 2 gb in the 1490.

I'd appreciate hearing from any users familiar with both models, before I take the plunge. Thanks.

I just tried to use my Garmin lifetime updater to update my maps. The highways are still there, but all the streets are gone!

I THOUGHT I had backed everything up, but even though I "cloned" the backup files back onto the Garmin 750 nuvi (using Laplink) the streets are still gone.

Does anyone know what can be done? Will I have to ship my Nuvi back to the factory for repair?
