Garmin Nuvis With Powered Cradles

Does anybody have a list of the Garmin Nuvis that use a powered cradle? My Garmin Nuvi 350 power connects to the cradle, but my wife's Garmin Nuvi 500 connects directly to the power cable.

List

This is my list, but make sure you double check with Garmin or another source.

Garmin Nuvis With Powered Cradles

That is a nice list. Thank you!

As

As the OP mentions, the 3xx have a powered cradle and I believe the 6xx models do as well.

FAQ, please! This is something I'll look to before I buy another--like the memory size of nuvis faq we now have.

And

My 295w has a powered mount.

3790LMT cradle also has a larger sized speaker built into it

One thing I really like about my 3790LMT it not only has a powered cradle but also has a larger sized speaker built into it. That larger speaker is used when the 3790 is mounted in the cradle instead of the smaller built-in speaker. It is the loudest and clearest nuvi I have ever owned. Whoever thought of that really had a great idea.

The mount with speaker is presently supplied with just the following models:

3750
3760
3790
3450
3490
3550
3590

This link has photos of the mount from all views if you look down the page for the mount pics;

Release button

Good point about the speaker.

Also, among the newer Nuvis, the powered mount for the following 5" models come with a release button on the bottom, instead of bending the tang on the top:

Garmin Nuvis With Powered Cradles

That is great to know. I have been considering one a bit bigger than the Garmin Nuvi 350, so this is helpful.

Thank you very much for that reply, since that will help me select a new Garmin. I added screen size to your list. I am now leaning towards a 5.0 inch screen with a powered cradle, so that suddenly narrows it down to the following list:

2450 5.0 inch
2460 5.0 inch
3550 5.0 inch
3590 5.0 inch
5000 5.0 inch
Dezl 560 5.0 inch

5" GPS

The Nuvi 5000 is a discounted model (originally aimed towards RVs) and the Dezl is a specialized unit for truckers and RVs.

If you're on a budget, the 2450 and 2460 are nice units for the price. I had gotten a 2450LM on sale for $108 but ended up returning it to keep a 3790. But while I had it, I thought it was a decent unit and I liked that you could correct or add speed limits.

I also had the 3590 for a time, but I returned it because I thought the sunlight readability wasn't as good as the 3790/3490. I just might be picky, though. But if you can, buy your unit from somewhere you can return easily with no re-stocking fee so you make sure you like it. The 3500 series is expensive so it's worth checking it out first.

Thanks for the list, and the

Good Information

My thanks to class3 in his(her) efforts in providing the list and to others who have added.
Along with the FAQ on internal Memory of Garmins, we have useful information that Garmin Buyers can use when deciding to purchase a unit.

I have sent an email to request this be added to the FAQ's, I sincerely hope the request is granted.

5 Inch Garmins With Powered Cradles

It looks like I can narrow this list down even further for me because I want to get one with Fleet Management Interface. So that narrows this list:

2450
2460
3550
3590
5000
Dezl 560

Down to this list:

2450
2460
5000
Dezl 560

And given the fact that the 5000 is discontinued and the Dezl 560 has features I don't need and is thus mpre expensive, that quickly narrows my list to the 2450 and 2460. With Wal-Mart offering the refurbished Garmin Nuvi 2460LMT at $159.98, I am going to give that a try.

5 incher

I like the 4 data fields that are located on the right side of my 1490t. Do any other 5" models have that feature?

Cool

I enjoy my non-powered mount

I enjoy my non-powered mount

855 too

has a powered mount, and a removable battery - most of the time I have the battery out, so it does not drain and then does not recharge. I only use the battery when required, saves where and tear on the battery, as it is likely good for only about 500-1000 recharges.

Not To Mention

Not to mention that the 350 also has an mp3 player!

Powered cradles are the way to go. I regret buying the 1350 for that reason after the 350. I still prefer to use the 350.

Fred

Day dreaming

I require powered cradles and a 3.5mm audio jack on the cradle would be perfect.

My 295w has those and MP3. Problem it is way too small and does not have JCV or Lane Assist.

You are correct, or at least for the 660 I'm still using. It works fine - after I installed a new battery - and I have NO intentions in replacing it.

Speaker on Cradle

That speaker thing on the cradle sounds cool. Might be just the thing for us dudes with damaged hearing.

Having experianed the new

Having experianed the new speaker on cradle it is a tad better for me but the best was the 3.5mm audio jack into the car sound system.

I miss that feature on my 2460LMT but I have it on my trusty old 660. I wish Garmin would bring it back but doubt that will happen.

.

The models with the built-in cradle speaker seem to be the loudest nuvis by far. One of my older units, a nuvi 855 with it's volume set to 100% approximately equals my 3490 and 3790 units set to 40%. This is despite the 855's dual front-firing speakers. rolleyes

does anybody have an updated list?

Thank you so much for compiling this list, guys! Does anybody have an updated list by any chance? With 2013 and 2014 models? TIA

Speed reading will get me yet, lol

It didn't list 765T, then I realized it was a random list.

Not All Equal

Not all the cradles are the same. I wanted an extra cradle and found several on eBay. I didn't dawn on me that there would be a different number of pins. The one I purchased has 10 contact pins and the 2460 has 13. The FM receiver that came with the cradle still made my purchase a very good deal.

EDIT: The 10 pin I have appears to have a speaker in it.
