GPS and Airport X-Ray

I would like to bring my GPS System [on vacation] with me. to use it on my rental car, Is there any danger in going through the security check points at the airport with the system? Could it be corrupted in any way by going through the xray machines? What is the best way to travel with it by air?

They claim that PC's are not affected by it, so I doubt that a GPS would be.

I have taken my TomTom with me many times, both in checked luggage and in carry-on, and I've never had a problem.

Our Garmins have gone through the x ray scans many times

Sally has taken our Garmins on many trips to use in rental cars. They have gone through the x ray scans multiple times on each of those trips and never have had any problem with the unit.

Always go through security with mine.

I always take my Garmin on the plane in carry on.
Never had a problem with it.
If you get a window seat you can use it on the plane (most airlines)
Mine picked up a signal faster than on the ground.
Just open the scren view and turn off the sound.
Mine shows a top speed of 579 mph.

Time to acquire satellites

Make sure as soon as the plane lands and it is safe to turn devices on do so, if you wait till you are in the rental car you may be in for a long wait since the PND has to acquire and get information from the satellites overhead at your new location.
