I tested the 1490lmt side by side with the 50LM for wacky routing:

during that test, i noticed that the 50LM's junction view stayed on the screen longer than the more expensive 1490lmt.

(new 50LM cost me ~$60 during xmas sale, 1490lmt was $130 refurb. both bought in last 7months.)

What gives?!

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about how my 1490LMT w/2013.10 maps gave wacky routing.
(all avoidances turned off.)

ie: i'm on the highway approaching the Verrazono bridge. my 1490 tells me at EVERY exit to take the exit and go local to the bridge. WTF?!
my 255w with 2012.30 maps didnt do that.

well, i got ahold of my sister's 50LM with 2012.30 maps.

garmin 1300 are units without mp3 capability?
Can you add voice to the POI red light cameras in this unit.?

I was looking at the information on the Wireless Emergency Alert system here in the United States and I was thinking it would be nice if that could be added to the Garmin Nuvi 1690 and 1695. I still use my Garminfone, so I should be all set with that.

I know this is a 'simple' question. How do I 'install' a file once I have downloaded it?

I just got a refurbished 3790LMT from Bestbuy at a great price. So far I am loving it! The screen clarity is awesome and the feature set is pretty comprehensive. With the life time map update this is going to be used for a long time.

Hopefully they got it right this time...

And don't let the "7xx" confuse you. Garmin should change this to "7x0" since "7xx" could mean either the nuvi 7x0 or 7x5 series. This firmware is ONLY for the 7x0 series.

Well I used the GPS for an out-of-town trip for the first time this past week.... arrgghhh
The unit was updated (firmware & maps) after being unpacked.

Before making a decision on it's fate, I thought maybe the POI collective would have suggestions.

followed the faq:

saved this site's red light + speed camera files to hard drive.

ran the poi loader.
- pointed software to the directory where files were saved. left everything else at default.

got this msg:
there was an unexpected error during the transfer of the custom poi file.

what's wrong?

How can I get my GPS to show what COUNTY I'm in? POI file? Map setting? Something else???

I've been considering upgrading from my 765 to this model. Have any of you had any bad experiences with the 2555?

Just got a 2460lmt and updated maps (2013.10). Noticed that the JCV files were about 445mb not the 775mb size when I updated my 1490t/sd card (stand alone file) to 2013.10. I certainly have room for them or does the update act differently with the 2460lmt. I'm showing lots of junction views on the 2460 but can't figure out the diffence in JCV file size.What don't I understand?

Don't know if this is the right forum but I have always edited the Garmin American Jill voice but the last update looks like a bunch of greek letters in the TTS voice editor including v290. Maybe Turbocc could look at this.

I have a Nuvi 2450.

I have two trips on the 2450 that I want to put on my computer and work on them in Mapsource.

The only way I have been able to find these two files on my 2450 is to show all files and under system there is a folder called "Trip" The two files are in number format with an extention ".trip"

garmin 2595 shows wrong zip code for my work address... What is the best way to correct it in my device and inform Garmin about the issue?

In my garmin acct I have a map upgrade that I haven't downloaded.

I think they usually release new ones in August, about a month away.

Should I wait for that, or will it be taken away, or what? I have been having some weirdness and I was going to plug the unit in and let it update it's software if it wants too.

But there is that upgrade, waiting.

What should I do?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 that I might want to get an after-market windshield mount for. Because I am using an Argent Data cable in the side mini USB, I need to continue using a powered cradle. Anyway, does anybody happen to know if any company makes an after market mount that is compatible with the existing Garmin powered cradle?

I've downloaded several POI's. I driven by many of these places that I have downloaded and the place is not showing up on the map. What am I doing wrong?
