Garmin talk

Hi, I just found this site and am excited to add POI's since the existing ones are so lacking. I would guess 50% of the places I look for are not in the database. Question; if I download, say a file of POI listings of Holiday Inns, does it override any existing ones or will it duplicate them? Appreciate any help or tips! Thanks!

This may be a stupid question but how do I access the SD memory card in my Nuvi 765t from my computer.

I have some pictures on the card that I would like to transfer to my computer. I plugged in my Nuvi and have the file open but cannot find a file for the card or anything that shows where the pictures are stored.

I cant read GPX files. How can I change the POI to CVS. I have a PC Windows 7

Thanks for the info. I'll try that. Why can't the files be in CVS or TOM TOM not GPX (royal pain) I need to download all the truckstops Love, TA, etc. but it only in GPX file.

Is the traffic recieved with the GTM 60 much better than than the 3d traffic? I have a 2595lmt with 3d traffic and am considering geting the GTM 60 Antenea which will give me the 3d digital traffic. wondering if it is worth the $ 70.00?

While I was driving home tonight, my Garmin Nuvi 350 starting displaying erratic readings. I attempted to re-boot it, but now I get a "blue screen of death." Anyway, I will contact Garmin in the morning, but I am just wondering with a unit this old if Garmin will still repair it for a price or will they not even repair something this old?

I've been registering & setting up a new 3590LMT w/no glitches until I tried to download some routes to it from Mapsource.

My Mapsource v6.16.3 can't find it. I've downloaded the latest USB drivers along with the Garmin Communicator program but to no avail. Mapsource recognizes and communicates with my 850 and Quest units just fine, but I can't get it to connect with the 3590.

I've been using my nuvi 1390 for a few months locally and have had no issues.

This a.m. I went to load in an address 1200 miles away for a trip I am going to be taking next week and the nuvi defaults to a similiar address but in a zip code about 90 miles away from my current location. When I punch in the zip code for my destination it says no matches found.

greetings fellow memebers: I had a hard week at work, waking up to different starting hours.You know what makes my day.......Those poi jokes, really great and humourous. I love them keep it up.Sure makes my day to releive stress.

This is my third garmin (660,1490T,2460LMT).Disabled eco-route, my trends,traffic trends also bluetooth (don't use it and command voice). Wanted to use it with pure GPS mode without it "thinking around me". I have to say its been superb at routing, local and far. Recalculations are almost instant. Calculating is quite quick, I'm impressed so far(2 months). 660 was a good unit and still is.

I have owned a Garmin nuvi 50LM for about 10 days (purchased it for a vacation) and we are 3 states away from home and it keeps freezing on the screen that shows Garmin. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I love the text-to-speech on our 50LM, but emphasis on the syllables and street abbreviations are often amusing. Here's a couple of good ones that we've noticed in our travels...

Mitsubishi Motorway is abbreviated on the map as Mtwy. Our Garmin pronounces this as "Mistubishi Mih-TWY". Has no problem with the word Mitsubishi.

Capital One bought Chevy Chase Bank in 2009 and changed all branch branding in 2010 (I think). But searching for Capital One bank in the Garmin yields nada.

I have talked to a bank employee who claims to have worked for Garmin and he told me Navteq provides the POIs.

I heard on the local television news that a community in Maryland is trying to get approval to install a STOP SIGN camera.

I didn't even know they exist.

If these start popping up it will be something for poi-factory, garmin, etc.. to start including.

Prepare to come to a full complete stop, then wait 10 seconds to make sure the camera sees that you are stopped.

What may be the reason for that can not see my custom POI's in my GPs Nuvi 2555, when I make the simulation and I'm on the road only a small black box, are not the logos. Someone can help me? So I download the security cameras and follow all installation instructions to the GPS and then can not find them.

For the past one month I struggled to solve the problem of my Garmin GPS 750 going in to data mode ( Computer icon popping up) when ever I used to connect the mini USB charging unit---whether I connect to the Laptop OR in the car.
The solution is simple.
1. Connect the GPS to the charger---let the Computer Icon pop up.
2. Now disconnect the charger from the GPS.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 2360, software version 3.60, GPS Firmware 2.70.
Using POILoader 2.7.1.0, and SOX 14.0.1

I'm simulating my testing several POIs by setting 'location 1' and 'location 2' about 0.2 mi either side of the POI I want to test.

OK, when I test my 'My_Home' bmp, csv and wav and simulate a drive by it work fine.
