I just got a car with built in Garmin GPS.

I managed to copy my POIs that Ihad saved in my Nuvii 1490, via a flash drive, to the car's unit without a problem.

Now the Favorites: how does one copy the favorites from the 1490 to the car unit?

Can someone help me please!
I accidentally formatted my Garmin Nuvi 1300
when it was connected to my pc.
When I go to garmin website and click
'update software' button it tells me no
garmin device connected.
(...I expect this is because it now contains no

Thought I would pass on a few tips for those of you that might be a little agitated with auto-zoom and nuvi refresh rates. If you are in the middle of nowhere this might not be a big deal but in the city like me, being able to see your turns quickly before you get to them is essential and that will come down to the refresh rate.

I found that I have an old Garmin Nuvi 255W, and it has barely been used.

Is it worth spending $20 for the FM Traffic Receiver?

To what extent is this rig obsolete and I'd be better off with a new GPS?

Does the Red light and enforcement camera file work with the Nuvi 255W?

I was driving down the freeway and noticed that on the display the vehicle icon was traveling towards a blank portion of the background map until the entire map disappeared except for the vehicle icon and the top green info bar. Tried shutting down and resetting but still same problem. I then brought it into the house and connected to ac power source and everything seems normal.

After having a Garmin C330 a couple years then in 2009 go and get a nuvi 255W - I thought was a great upgrade from the old C330 and thought "wow something that speaks street names". After 4 years of using the 255W I finally upgraded to the nuvi 2455LMT and I know it isn't the latest and greatest model but after research it would serve my needs well.

Seems the GPS makers keep dumbing down what the owner can do. Sort of like my way or no way.

My 1450 has the capability of creating your own route and I use it all the time I don't like or use Base Camp.

I am thinking of replacing my 1450LMT do any of the new units let you crate your own route in the GPS?

on my Nuvi 765 I create a route from home to the place about 66 miles away. In the preferences, avoidances are disabled, and the route type is "fastest". Nuvi calculates the route that does not use the nearby interstate highway, and estimates the duration as 1:12.

A few weeks ago I updated my 1350 map and software. What is happening since then is when starting a trip, the highlighted route starting point is not anywhere near where I am at. It used to be when I was in a parking lot or something it would say proceed to highlighted route and it was at the lots exit. Since the update, it is sometimes not even on the screen.

I've been through numerous GPS units since 2004, but they've all been Garmins. Each and everyone I've used had been excruciatingly slow in POI search and real-time recalculation of routes.

I also have a no longer made Nextar Me based on Windows CE. While it takes as long or longer than Garmin to boot up, POI search and on-the-fly rerouting is much faster.

Well, I got a 2595 and like it so far. Lots of neat new features.

WebUpdater detects it and communicates with it, though I haven't updated the software yet. It came with v6.3 loaded.

However, neither Map Source nor POI Loader detect it. I installed the latest version of POI Loader, but that didn't help.

Anyone else have this problem?

What is the largest sdhc (G) I can use in my nuvi 260w?

I have a Garmin c530, and a Nuvi 1390LMT that I have replaced the boot screen with one showing my Wife and I, and a phone number in case they get lost/stolen.

I want to replace it due to a new phone number, but for the life of me, I can't remember where it is, or the file name.

I just bought a Garmin 2595 and have loaded some POI in CSV and GPX formats. I put the SIM program in the same program file as the POI Loader. I have tried putting wav and also mp3 audio in the same folder as the Csv or GPX files, making sure the names are identical as the csv file or the gpx file.

When I also went into manual mode in the poi loader to select the alert and set a distance.

I have been using Garmin Mobile PC for years and for the most part like it. But recently the unit hasn't been acquiring as quickly and so I am wondering if it is getting old. I like using a pc for navigation because of the screen size and ability to upload pins (and it is also what I am used to) so though we have another Garmin unit as well I want to stay with the my PC set up.

I am having trouble entering Google Map coordinates into my nuvi 760.

There is a location in Google Maps on Long Island (Melville, NY) that reads 40.779209,-73.429012. When I go to the coordinates in my nuvi it has three boxes over three boxes such as N 40 42.xxx and W 73 42.xxx.

How can I enter (convert) Google to my nuvi.

I have a Garmin Dakota 20 with US maps. If I purchase lifetime map updater, will it work? or does the unit must come with maps pre-intsalled? Is there a work around?

Any info appreciated.

If I download a map to micro sd card and don't want to allow other people to copy the map, how can I lock it? Anyone can help? Please,thanks in advance.

Interesting. On the Garmin 'Try before you buy' page, it shows "2013.30 - Updated" on the pop-up map.
