Slow Satellite Conection

I have had a StreetPilot c510 for a few weeks now. The first few days I used it without updating any firmware from Garmin's website. At this point it found satellite coverage extremely quickly, sometimes instantly, even if I had kept it in my house overnight. I then installed all the latest firmware updates and some other updates (but I have no idea what these were!) however the Garmin website promised me they were for my system. Since doing this, my c510 takes far longer to find satellite coverage, sometimes up to 2 minutes when first switching on the machine. Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas what's caused it? I have a feeling it was one of the other updates I installed and not one of the regular firmware upgrades.

WOW Same thing happened to

WOW Same thing happened to me on my Garmin Streetpilot C320! I reinstalled my maps and it seems better now.

Try resetting the unit

Pop off the face-plate and hit the reset button...then turn it on again and get a satellite lock...after hitting the reset button, it could take some time to lock - just be patient and let it do it's thing. Once it's been reset, try and use normally - and if you're still having issues, it might be worth a call to Garmin support.

Thanks for the advice. What will resetting do? I know I will lose any saved favourites etc. and that it will return all my option choices to default but will my firmware etc. stay the same?

Your favorites will remain,

Your favorites will remain, the firmware will remain the same, your settings will remain the same. It just makes it work like it should, at least most of the time

You can get quicker

You can get quicker satellite reception by turning on the GPSr EXACTLY where you turned it off. or just wait for 30secs-5 minutes and let it find them again.
