Garmin talk

I bought a used c550, and it was sold legitimately. The seller didn't have any of the paperwork, and thus I was not able to get the yellow coupon.

How can I update my unit's maps? If I buy "City Navigator" will I get updates each time, or will I have to buy it each time?

Ok, I have repeatedly put my POIs back into the unit several times and I am still not getting any alerts. I looked up the POI and I was less then .1 miles away and it didn't alert. Under the descr of the POI, it says Alert Info...Distance 2461ft. Zero Speed.

So it looks like it should alert. Any ideas?

I have the GTM Traffic Reciever for the 550. I have the latest firmware, and since that update, it takes forever to get traffic notices. The traffic icon on the menu page doesn't activate for up to 30 minuntes. Any tricks or tips to expedite the reception. I have tried shutting down, unplugging, etc.

Dose anyone know if you can add a FM transmitter to a Garmin Nuvi 350. It does have a opening for a headphone jack. I want to send the Garmin voice to my car radio. If one is available what is the brand name of it. Thanks

Hey! I just stumbled here from Google as I was looking for some POIs and recommendations for what GPS to buy.

I am in the market for a car GPS in the next month or two when I move down to California. I've read lots of reviews on different units. I don't have the budget to spend an arm and a leg, so keep that in mind.

Which instrument is better interms of POI uploading and handling? Garmin C330 or Nuvi 350?

I have currently C330 and want to return it back and buy Nuvi 350..

Any immidiate advice?

Does anyone know if you have access to both maps when you place a second map into the I5 with a micro sd card? Example...If you put Europe on the card can you still use the USA map that was pre installed on the unit or does the card over ride that map and/or replace that map until you remove the card from the unit?

I know you can't do it now, but what is the general consensus that something like this could be done with a firmware update? I emailed Garmin 2 weeks ago asking them this, but they never replied. It sure would be nice if it's possible.

Not sure where to Post this message at. I was Talking to a DHL Technician and he was telling me that he has a Garmin GPS that runs on batteries. He has it hooked up to his Nikon D200 with some cable.

He says when he takes a picture he is able to get the Lat & Lon of the picture he shot or something on those lines.

While waiting for my nuvu 350 to arrive, I was checking their website about free map update. Can someone translate this into plain English?

I have just purchased a Zumo 550 and mounted it onto my 2004 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic. I am wondering if anyone has figured out how to hard wire the system voice commands) into the radio\cb\intercom. I am sure it can be done it is a matter of talking with someone who has done it or doing it the hard way and figuring it out mysef.

When you have the poi on a sd card, it keeps asking if I want to move it over to the Garmin, and I don't, can I keep that prompt from coming up each time?

I have a nuvi 360 since August 06, i was wondering how often Garmin come out with new maps? The firmware updates are good, but i am noticing living in a new area a lot of roads don't exist yet?

Anyone have an insight?

Say if I found a few newer versions of custom POI and want to upload it to my Garmin c340. Is it better to completely delete all custom POI and reload them? Will the Garmin uploader automatically write over the older version of the custom POI?

I have loaded some fuel truck stops in my Nuvi 350 and can see them in my Custom POI's. The question I have is do I have to be on the same road as the POI for the alert to happen? It seems if I am just passing by, say on the interstate I do not get an alert. BTW I have the speed set to over 0 mph and distance set to 3 miles.

My c340 came with Version 2.10. I had a DVD sent to me and it is Version 8. Should I download/install this one?

Anyone know how to recalibrate the screen on a c530? Someone posted something, but there was no such option under display option.

I was market for nuvi 370 and now I checked the Garmin site again and found stripped down version, nuvi 270.

I am glad that I waited several week. Did anyone have any experience with the new 200 series?
