First you need to turn the

First you need to turn the GPS receiver off. On mine I hit the Wrench, then hit System, then hit where it says "GPS Mode" and click "GPS Off".

Go back to the map and to the place where you can Browse the Map. Browse to the location you want to search and click the button that says "Set Loc."

Now you can search that area.

The other way to do it is to hit "Where to?" and click "Near ..." click "A Different City" and type in the location you want to search.

Thanx Mama!

If it is like the c330, then you can touch "Near" and then enter in the city and then you can search however you want. I dont have to turn off the GPS part.

Thanx all for your great info. It is funny, because as much as I have played with it the past 3 weeks I never noticed the "near" choice/button!
It is great to be a member of this site, the forums and the quality of the members here are great. Non of the usual replies of "look around before you ask stupid questions" (guess that leaves me free to ask many more stupids) smile Cam

No need to turn it off

There's no need to turn off the GPS receiver to do this. Just use "Where To" and then "Near".

Of course, you are correct.

Of course, you are correct. Some people, however have wanted to search using the map and their complaint is that the map keeps going back to where they are currently located. Turning the receiver off avoids this. But of course, for normal searching it isn't necessary.

Here's a pic
