Garmin talk

I always leave my car charger for the Nuvi plugged in even if the GPS is not being used. Does this still draw power or affect the car in any way? Should I just unplug it? Since I run the cable from my winshield to the center console, I just hate opening the console to plug and unplug it all the time.

Recently updated the sofware (map) on my
Garmin Nuvi 760. I noticed that Point of Interest
(POI) icons do not display on the map while I am navigating as they did with the other garmin GPS like 276c . Is there a way to display the other POI's (icons) while navigating?

I also enjoyed using the compass page and that feature was also omitted in the current Nuvi's.

Please excuse what may be a simple minded question, but I am new to using my nuvi 350. I want to be able to access the NPR stations list while a route is active. How do I go back and forth between the POI and the route? Do I need to stop and re start the route for example.

On my Nuvi 660 when I use to touch the map from the track up view it would list the township, borough, city, ETC... Now it says "area".... Any suggestions on how to get it back?

I have a Nuvi 760 which came with the FM traffic receiver. The trial subscription will expire sometime in 6 or 8 weeks. The FM receiver seems to work however I nothing to compare it to. The unit shows me major incidences around Atlanta as well as slow traffic. Here's the dilemma.

When I choose Home on where to my Garmin 750 dosen't show my street It directs me to an adjasent street then off road to my house.Will the new 2009 maps show my neighborhood streets?

I understand that Garmin is no longer making the Nuvi 350.Does anyone know what replaced it?

I was curious as to the use of the speed camera POI.
I notice that in some areas my Nuvi 660 will warn me that there is a 2 MPH speed alert when I am in a 40MPH zone.Is there a way that I can remove the speed alerts from my nuvi '

hey guys, i am looking into purchasing a map update but they are expensive for me.. is there a way to get them discounted AND how different are they from the 08 maps?? in maryland, sections of the new construction by PG is an example.. common sense saved me from getting lost and trying to ignore that ever annoying 'recalculating' and seeing my car floating on the map.

I'm thinking about getting an LG Dare (Verizon). If anyone has this phone and also owns a 760/770/780, could you confirm the following:

1. If the bluetooth pairing works correctly

2. If you can transfer your contacts to the 7xx

Has anyone had any experience trying to pair the HTC (Sprint) Touch with the Nuvi 770. Does it work at all? Can you get the phonebook?

The only change this claims, is the mystical "Enhance compatibility with PC applications".

I'm just about to email Garmin, and ask them to explain what this is - and also to confirm that this update can be removed again, should it introduce problems.

I updated to 6.0. Next time I turned on my 350, a screen flashed too quickly for me to read, then screen went blank and stayed that way. Happened each time I turned it on. If I turn on while connected to PC, the same screen stays on so I can read it. It says my map NT 2008, is outdated and should be update. When I press OK, nothing happens. Unit is locked.

On the 660 is there a way to turn up the volume on the poi alert ?

Weird thing happened today, my Nuvi showed about a 500 foot offset from the map to where I really was. The 880 was showing a 25' accuracy on the satellites screen.

This happened one time before in the short time I've had the unit, which is normally reasonably accurate.

It was overcast but I assumed the good accuracy report from the 880 indicated that the overcast condition wasn't having any effect.

I have tried Gary Hayman's procedure in his article I've been set up but the set loc option did not appear after tapping Show Map. I followed his example as given in the article. So my question is can I set loc on the Nuvi 350 AND the location is in another state?

Also, what is the difference between setting alerts as single tone vs continuous all alerts from a user perspective.

Hello all, I will be traveling into Canada next week and was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of about using my Nuvi 350 while in country and if there in anything I need to program differently while using my Nuvi - my planned route is from Niagara Falls thru Toronto and out to Alexandria Bay, NY.
