nüvi wishlist

There are two routing features that I'd love to see – sadly, my nüvi 750 has neither.

Closed Road / Road Blocks
I've run into a few places where there is technically a road, but it's a gated access or otherwise inaccessible. It would be nice to mark a point or a section of road "unroutable".
Preferred Routes / Shortcuts
There are some places where my nüvi either flips a coin or one route is slightly shorter than an alternative. But I know better! Sometimes this is just fewer lights to encounter; perhaps less traffic. In any case, I don't want to make the nüvi-preferred route inaccessible because sometimes that's a good road to take.. If there was a way to specify a "shortcut" which was just a preferred way to route between two points, that would be wonderful. It would certainly reduce the number of times I have to hear "Recalculating...".

If there's some way to accomplish either of these with the 750 itself or with RoadTrip (I'm using a Mac), please tell us!

I don't know about the preferred route stuff but the ability to change information like blocked or mis-named roads is one of the things that has me looking at some of the newer Tom-Tom's.

I wish

They'd fix the lag created by the version 4.0 firmware and that didn't get fixed by v4.1

Make a route in R-T and save it to your 750.

Stuff....

I agree that I'd like my 760 to function properly again - fixing the issues caused by the recent firmware debacle.

I'd also like to be able to remove incorrect POI and to mark roads as non-existent or not-a-through-road.

I'd like to be able to customize the data fields on my 760 the way I can on my 76CSx.

You can help Navteq with info...

http://mapreporter.navteq.com/dur-web-external/secured/submi...

Go there when you find dead POIs, road issues, etc. and report them via this web site. When I first got a my Nuvi 350, I submitted several that did get corrected and are in the current version of maps.

Upgrades

I wish that Garmin would provide the option to upgrade to new versions of their software. Not just bug fixes, but new features and interface changes that the newer units have. It's ridiculous to expect someone to buy a new unit just to get the latest features or interface changes. Yes some of these are hardware specific, but many are not. For example, I hate that I can't see my current speed while following a route. The new units have a redesigned interface that now shows this info. There's no reason they could not offer that as a paid upgrade.
