Alerts Redlight is bad on my Zumo 550

O.K. I guess I played around and mess it up without backing up. So here is my problem, and maybe someone here can figure a way to fix it.

I decided that 2 city blocks was too long of a distance to be alerted of a redlight camera. So I did a manual install and changed the ft to 660. I mean, I travel through Chicago, and if it stayed at 2 blocks, I would be getting a constant alert in some places. But I guess I did that wrong. It doesn't say "Caution Redlight Camera Ahead" anymore. And I don't seem to get the warning until about 660 inches away. Not really what I was looking for. I uninstalled the Poi's, and reinstalled them, but the same problem. I even did it manually again and put it back to 1330 feet. And still no voice or alert till I am right on top of it. Can anyone help?

.

What is the full filename of the Custom POI file and the Custom Alert sound file that you are loading? Are they exactly the same except for the file extension?

As to the alert, did you change anything in the file itself?

660 inches is 55 feet. Is that when you are getting the alert? At 55 feet? And are you saying that you are getting the default alert sound?

?

Did you mistakenly try to add both a speed alert and a proximity alert? If you typed 55 for mph but the proximity box was checked, you may have gotten a 55 ft alert.

Shhhh

Good point, I didn't change anything to the file. It is what I d/l from here. And the alert is set as 660 ft, not the mph.. I get the beep and the warning shows, but no voice.

Not sure what the "Shhh" meant in your title .....

.... but what is the full filename of both the Custom POI file and the Custom Alert sound file that you are loading?

OK

Redlight-Cameras.cvs
Redlight-Cameras.bmp
Redlight-Cameras.mp3

I tried to play the Redlight-Cameras.mp3 but it was quiet. So some how Jill had laryngitis!! So I downloaded a new sound file and will have to see if this one solves the problem. I thank you for your help. Now as soon as it warms up a bit, I have to find a camera. Not very hard to do around here. confused

You don't have to drive there. Just run a simulated route past the camera.

Simulate?

I'm not familiar with the Zumo 550 (I know MM is). Does it have a simulation mode? If so, you can test the BMP icon and the sound file from the comfort of your easy chair and save the gas.

DANG: bentbiker beat me!!

Yeah, totally simulate it. Except that it might be a little hard to judge the distance that the alert is occurring.

If you are getting the default alert and not the custom alert sound, then something is wrong/changed with the alert file.

And Jill doesn't have anything to do with the Custom Alerts.

Things to check.
1. Is the alert soundfile in the same folder as the Custom POI file?
2. Double/TRIPLE check for double file extensions. (Be sure your file browser isn't hiding file extensions.)
3. Do you have the Zumo in a mount receiving EXTERNAL power? You won't get sound from the audio jack on battery power.
4. Redownload the file and reload the Custom POIs
5. Copy your Favorites and Routes to MapSource and then do a hard reset on the Zumo.
6. Reload the Custom POIs

Bad sound file

Yes

Same, and I have unhidden the file extension long ago.

My motorcycle mount is hooked to constant power, and powered by a 200w amp to my speakers.

Did that, but forgot that the redlight had a sound file.

This I need to look into...

I d/l the sound file and all is working. Thanks.

It does when she is the sound file I d/l'd. Of course it had been a long time and I had forgotten that I did. So for a while when I changed to Emily I couldn't figure out why Jill was still announcing the Redlight camera's. shock It wasn't until this happened I realized then it was the sound file of Jill. surprised
