Garmin talk

Where do I download sounds? Do i put them all in one folder in POI Garmin downloadsfolder or do I load each one individually in the POI folder? On my old nuvi 760 I had them in one folder in POI garmin Downloads and they worked great now I have a nuvi 1390 even though I converted them to .wav files they dont work.

I have a nuvi 260w, it works fine. I keep it updated regarding maps and software. I find out about new maps from postings here at POI Factory, and about new software by connecting my nuvi to the computer and My Garmin

From time to time I receive an email from Garmin announcing available updates, e.g., GPSMAP 695/696 6.50 (January 31, 2013).

I had concluded Garmin is superior, and stuck with that for a while. But since we only have 1 garmin (1 garmin broke), I've found myself relying on the android more lately. And for whatever reason, it hooks up to the satellite super fast now, and works much better than I remember. It really seems like the technology on the smartphone side is progressing much faster.

Does anyone know if you can group saved waypoints by folder on a Garmin Montana. Sorting thru a multitude of saved waypoints is a pain.

Apparently, the Cyclops Red Light Camera detectors offered on the Garmin site, are not compatible with the NUVI 2555LMT. Can anyone tell me where to find a POI program that will work with this unit?

It took me a while to realize it, but when you look at your list of Favorites, the miles shown are "as the crow flies", NOT driving miles. You only get the driving miles after you select the favorite and the unit "calculates route" or words to that effect. Not a huge issue, but worth noting.

I did save a link to the steps necessary to download a map to an SD card in a Nuvi 660, but it's a bit un-clear as to the steps.

I believe it is not an "automatic" procedure as in newer units.....

Could someone who knows steps explain them one more time so I can be certain of the steps so that I don't make mistakes when attempting to do it for this upcoming Map Update...

I updated a few Nuvi's recently ( 200, 600, 700, and 800 series NUVI's) and I noticed in the change logs for the software update that there was a change to add an additional map to the SD card. What is the naming format? Is it still 8.3? The first map is gmapsupp what is the second maps name.. I've tried gmapsupp1, gmapsup1, gmapsup2..

I have a Garmin 855 bought on line from the US and shipped to Australia with American maps installed and Australian maps on SD card.

I would like to buy and download the latest Australian maps with lifetime update and get rid of the American maps, but don't want to lose the Junction View or Lane Selector features.

Does anyone know a way around this?

I have tried at least 20 times to load sox14-0-1 to my Garmin 1390 with no sucess. I donloaded sox and placed it in my Garmin folder and in my poi loader. and then ran ran poi loader. I dont get any .WAV sound warnings that I have previously loaded into my poi loader folder.

What am I doing wrong? Can someone help me step bt step?

I tried to load the state parks POI to my Nuvy 205.
All parks with a longitude higher than -104.00000 are missing. Any location lower than this is shown.
Have someone an idea what's wrong ?

I would like to install Redlight and Speed-camera data to my Nuvi 775 and 3790, with Garmin POI Loader.
I know, that I will have to create a file on my PC for the collection of such Redlight and Speed-camera data first, then use the POI Loader to transfer the file to the devices.
Looking around, I found several sources from where this data is available for download :

just got this 750 garmin but i can't seem to get the mp3 going i put in the sd card but it don't seem to show any music , can someone help ?

Well I decided to do a quick write up of the voice command structure for the 3790LMT Software V5.00.

The main screen that opens after giving the wake-up command is:
View Map; takes you to the map view.

Does anyone have a Garmin that is part of the car, in other words built into the dashboard? If so can they be updated somehow?

I have several portable Garmins that have lifetime maps included, so they get updated several times a year.

I'm a little curious about others' experience with the Traffic Alerts boasted in the marketing of many of the Garmin models. I currently have a Nulink 1695 (previously had a Nuvi 1690 until it died), and my experience with both units is that traffic alerts are very inaccurate.

Garmin has released update 4.1.0 for both the PC and MAC version of Basecamp.

Here is the PC Changelog:

Added support for Garmin Cloud Storage.
Added support for searching and displaying Custom POIs from devices (GPI file support).
Added ability to report map errors directly from within BaseCamp.

Can anyone help me on how I can load rivers and lake names on my Garmin 2555LMT? I live in NC and frequently travel back and forth to Florida. I would like the 2555 to display the names of the bodies of water I am crossing.
