External Power Lost - Countdown Timer > Change from 30 Seconds

Has anyone figured out how to change the automatic countdown timer (when the Garmin loses external power) from the default 30 seconds to a shorter number of seconds?

I seem to recall reading a couple of years ago that someone was able to change the number of seconds. But, I can't find anything on the topic by searching around the Internet.

I would like to set the automatic timer on 5 or 10 seconds (instead of the default 30 seconds) and just let the GPS timeout and shut off...instead of letting it run on battery power for 30 seconds before shutting off, or selecting to turn it off manually by the touchscreen. I know it's not that big of a deal, but I'd just prefer it to timeout automatically in 5-10 seconds without any involvement...if I can somehow change it.

Don't think you can

I don't think it can be changed, but I haven't really researched it. That looks to me like one of those functions that are hard-coded into the firmware.

You may be right. I was hoping maybe someone knew a way to change it with a hack.
