Garmin Dezl 760LMT Automobile Mode Warning Screen Prompt Annoyance

Is there a way to "hack" the Garmin Dezl 760LMT to eliminate the annoying prompt that comes up every single time the unit comes on to notify you that you are in automobile mode? (Since Garmin intended it to be for truck use primarily, I guess they want to remind you of this so you don't sue them if you drive your truck over a 1 lane 9' bridge or something.) Anyway, I use this for my car because it still works for the car, has a nice 7" screen, and a backup camera input putting it ahead of the curve of all other Garmin Nuvi models in my opinion. I know others have found ways to hack the license agreement prompts and such. This one just really annoys me because it does not go away until you click Agree. I'm not sure why they didn't make it so that it disappears after 30 seconds or so just like the main Where To / View Map screen goes to the street map automatically after a short period of time.

Specifically, I'm talking about the prompt which says: Your device is set to automobile mode. The device will not obey truck or RV profile restrictions. Switch Mode / Agree

.

Just hit Agree, and call it done. If you hack it, you'll void any warranty you have.

Hmm. Didn't think about it

Hmm. Didn't think about it voiding a warranty but still wish it could be dome particularly if its reversible by modifying a configuration file or something. I've heard of people doing this for other prompts on Garmins. I just think of it as customizing your unit.

Irritating

The 560LMT does the same thing, but actually seems to have about 4 or 5 levels of screens you have to "OK" before you can really DO anything with the GPS. Very irritating.

Any updates?

I was hoping to find an answer to this too, no luck so far. I was able to cut the number of prompts down from 3 to 2 though simply by deleting the entire EULA folder. Hope that doesn't void my warranty. rolleyes

RV 760 LMT

has the same annoying screen prompt.

Any success in by passing startup acceptance screen?

Each time my vehicle starts up, so does the GPS and there is that screen that locks up the GPS until I hit the Agree button.
I would be very willing to void my warranty just to avoid having to hit the “I Agree” button every time the unit wakes up. I would appreciate anyone who can lead me to a hack, “hex editor” or what ever is needed to either by pass this screen, or have it time out so that map comes up on it’s own.
Thanks in advance.

about 15 seconds and the screen goes off. There is no "kack" as the code is in a protected portion of the unit's memory that can't be accessed.

Work-around?

(I've never had a truck or RV GPS, so I'm just making this up as I go along...)

Do you still use it for a truck? If not, how about putting it in truck mode and defining a profile for a "car-size" vehicle. If the weight, height, length were set appropriately would it navigate the same as in automobile mode?

work around not working

Thanks for the reply. The first warning screen asking you to not enter route information while driving, goes away in about 15 seconds, but the second warning screen does not. I have tried putting it in Truck mode, defining a profile, then It locks up on the second warning screen saying “Even when using this product for Truck or RV navigation, it is your responsibility to account for you vehicle’s height, length ---etc. It will stay on that screen indefinitely waiting you’re the user to press “I Agree”. Same for putting it in RV mode. Automobile mode just has different wording, but same screen. This forces the user to hit the I Agree button each time it wakes up from the vehicle being stopped. This may sound trivial, but in a car that makes stops and startups far more frequently then a truck, this is very annoying. Think about how many times your car starts and stops every day regardless if it is navigating or not, and without pressing a button on the GPS each time you start your car, all you will see is a warning screen.

much easier to just

Rename the folder to something like foo just in case for some unknown reason deleteing it causes gross malfunctions or pains when updating the unit.
