Garmin talk

We have the 2350LMT, haven't updated probably in 6 mos., not interested with the crashing and leaving the laptop up for hours...

Anyway, we trust the Garmin, and actually bring it even when we drive my wife's SUV which has a factory NAV.

I have a 2689 with a Lifetime North America and Europe subscription transferred from another device.

The forum here and other forums have EU maps at 2016.3 so I tried an update with no luck.

When I asked Garmin Support about the problem, the eventual reply was

I just did a trip from Surfside Beach SC to Gulfport MS. Trip down was great, no problems. Trip back not so good. In Lexington SC it took me off of I-20 on to side street and country roads. Finally took me back to I-20 but cost about 15 minutes. Going down 501 near Conway SC it wanted me to go down 501 business through downtown instead of staying on bypass 501. I didn't fall for that one.

Just got a new Garmin 770. I'm a truck driver and I used it for a week to great success. When I got home for some time off, I registered and updated my unit. Now I have no POI's. I can do a search for a particular place but, nothing shows on my map like before. Any ideas?

Anyone familiar with downloading and successfully accessing POIs onto a Garmin Map PILOT SD Card sold by Mercedes Benz? I am relatively new to this cooperative effort and have not been able to find much useful information online. Thanks!

I have never owned a handheld Garmin. I have always opted for automobile navigators or smartphone apps. I have recently started thinking about getting a handheld Garmin. The reasons that I have not bought one until now is that they seem expensive compared to dedicated automobile navigators and limited in utility. Earlier ones seemed crude in entering coordinates, etc.

I do this occasionally and thought a reminder would be helpful...
Due to differing types of Garmins I use, all with same POI selections.... 660 & a 2689.....

My 660 used MP3 audio, 2689 uses wav. I also have some customized larger Icons in the 2689 than 660...

I downloaded and installed the latest version of GE...firmware updated, etc. Problem is the map 2016.20 will not install. I get the screen that says preparing unit for download and it just endless loops and never moves on. Any thoughts on resolving this issue?

I have Wal-Mart POIs loaded on my nuvi2597. They are loaded as tour guide files with a 1 mile distance. The wav file plays only when Wal-Mart is set as a destination. Is it possible to get them to play when another destination is set? I had a nuvi 855 that would alert when near by. Can I get the 2595 to do the same?

Has anyone compared the accuracy of a Garmin's altitude numbers with a real altimeter or known source for a location? I have used our Garmin and iPhone to measure the altitude of our property and the numbers seem to be very different.

Showed as an update for me today. Downloaded and installed without problem.

Garmin is releasing two new Zumo models: 595LM and 395LM. It will be interesting to see if this has any affect on the existing Zumo models' pricing.

When I load custom POI files like Walmart locations and the announcement that goes with the file, my RV 760 does not seem to recognize or use them. My other GPS uses the same files and the announcements come through at the selected distance. I have loaded them the same way and just can't seem to get them to work on the 760. What am I doing wrong?

I have a 55 LM
My GPS comes with Junction view.
What is the extra "JCV" file and do I need it?
What would be the benefit of downloading it?
And last, how much room does it take on the GPS?

I recently updated Basecamp. Then I selected the Help tap from the Menu Bar. When I selected the Help or (F1) from the submenu, I get a “File not found" result.

I am wondering where I can find this file for the Help submenu ?

Curious, purchased new Garmin Nuvi 2689LTM, works great, the question is I am in USA and seem to have the one womens voice (for digital for reading street names)is there an optional voice, not celebrity just another digital maybe male. I came from the TomTom world and had two voices a male and female and male was a little clearer.
