Garmin talk

For anyone who might not be aware, I discovered that Garmin released a very critical software update for the DriveSmart 50 60 70 series. I have a 70 LMT and it's now running 3.50 and it runs much better particularly as it pertains to Bluetooth connectivity issues which were very prevalent before when using the Garmin SmartLink application.

Anyone else using the Nav V on a BMW factory mount and having problems with the screen going dark (GPS still running) on occasion when you shut the bike off mid ride, say for a quick fuel stop?

Latest Garmin software update done.

My elderly father has recently purchased a Garmin Rhino 650 device.
He's asked me to source the manual for him. He wants the manual in hard copy format.
I can't seem to download one for the 650.

My dad lives 600km from me so it's difficult to show him the manual is stored on the device.

I am thinking about buying a new GPS. I am leaning toward the 60LMTHD. Costco has it for 269.99. What are the pro and cons on this GPS.

Not sure on my DriveSmart 60, if I need Wav files with sox.exe or mp3 files. I could find no reference to it here.

I had to go to Reagan National Airport in DC from Baltimore twice last week. Good thing I had a clue and didn’t trust the Garmin.

Can anyone tell me why my nuvi1350 will not let me change states, just says state not found. Have updated?

Somewhere this afternoon I read something that mentioned that the Garmin Monterra has been cancelled. I checked the Garmin US website and I do see it listed as a previous model? Is that a recent change? Does anybody happen to know if that is the end of the line for Android based Garmin handheld GPS devices?

Suddenly, my Dezl 770 when plugged in to the car charge cable, or the USB cable to the computer, the Display mode goes to night, 1%. Unplugged, it goes back bright. No matter what time it is.

Settings, Color Auto
Brightness, if the cord is plugged in, it asks for the Garmin cable to change the brightness function and the Brightness is stuck at 1%. Unplugged it goes to whatever you set it to.

I tried this procedure on a Garmin Nuvi 1370T. I updated the North American map. I was using a friend's high speed data connection and only wanted to download the install files. I clicked on the button to update the installed maps. I hibernated the computer after the point where it said the download of the installation files finished; and the building map set had finished.

Just want to run this past the audience to see if this would work.

I drive to Mexico every fall and have all my route way-points on my Garmin.

Now this year a friend who has not driven there for years wants to use my way-points.

The unit was updated about 3 wks ago, firmware and map....

Is there anything in particular about DC, that would cause it to take minutes to recalculate? Have never seen it act like that....

My oldest son recently got a used Garmin Nuvi 50LM, but no mounting bracket. I checked at Garmin.com and it looks like the part number is 010-11765-02. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod101686.html I am just trying to determine where I should buy this from. Some Ebay dealers show a very low price, but some on-line reviews claim that some are not genuine Garmin parts and to be wary.

I am trying to enter a Alphanumeric address in to my Garmin Nuvi 2729 LMT, just can not get it. I do understand you can enter the coordinates if you have them but sometimes you just have the address. this is an example of a address I am trying to enter. S63 W16147 College Ave, Muskego, WI 53150.
I have tried to enter it like S63W16147 but the GPS is just confused. Any help would be nice.

Just added a new Garmin GPS to the stable this weekend, but this one had a rather unique accessory : a motorcycle.

How do you set your activity profile in Base Camp where the profile activity is driving by default?

Every time I create a route and look at the directions I get hiking as the default. I got to be missing something,

This is probably a silly question, but Garmin advertises some of their models as "not relying on cellular signals" How does that differ from other models that do not make this claim? I'm buying someone who lives in an area with very spotty cellular reception a GPS as a gift and am unsure whether or not this would be an advantage. I thought ALL GPS units relied on satellites.

I have a new Garmin 70 LMT to replace my 2798 LMT custom install in my dashboard with fascia. In the 2798 model I could have a usb cable routed through my glove box for updates from the laptop while also having the charger / FM traffic receiver connected in a separate port. (That model used micro usb instead of the slightly larger mini but regardless...).

I just got a DriveSmart 60LMTHD, how can we make a full backup because the system file are not shown as with the other GPS. The DriveSmart is not shown as a Drive like the other GPS were. Only secondary files are shown.
