Directional POI's

Howdy Ya'll!

I've been busy trying to find all of California's Truck Weigh Stations. I've got them, and now its time to start making my POI files.

What I am attempting to do is create a file that lets you know 1/4 mile BEFORE the last exit that you can take to avoid the scales.
NOT the actual scale location.

Now for my big question.

ICONS

I have been trying to load icon with two of my POI files. An icon for each file. The files and the icons are in the same file. Each has the correct extension and the names are correct. It will not load onto my NUVI 760. I have even tried removing one of the files and its associated icon still no luck. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Sound alert skips mp3s insead of playing sound

After installing a sound alert mp3 on my Garmin 680 as instructed (with the same name as the POI file) the alert makes the mp3 player skip to the next song instead of playing the alert sound. sad Installing the POI without the sound alert mp3 works fine (default alert tone). Thoughts anyone? Thanks. grin

Poi loader

Everytime I use the POI loader to download something new why do I have to always set my distance for my alerts. Is there anyway I can download a poi and have my alerts which I usually have it set up to alert me in 1320 feet to not change to zero feet. Thanks in advance.

PoiEdit

anyone know where I can get PoiEdit? Thanks.

POIs

Hey guys, I was wondering how you make your own custom POIs. Thanks for the help.

GPXX v3 files & Address based waypoints

I am trying to understand what the correct format of a GPXX v3 file would be if I want to use it to transfer a street address to a nuvi device via an SD card using the POI Loader.

Following is a GPXX v3 file to my local grocery store. It passes when I run it through an XML validator, and the POI Loader successfully converts it to a GPI file.

Car Charger Problem

Only have my Garmin about two months and notice that it is NOW (did in the beginning)not taking a charge from the cig lighter outlet as well as another outlet I have in my car. It does charge from the computer. Is there something I'm not doing right? I'm trying to avoid sending it back.
Thanks

Line break in title

Hi,

I have a garmin Nuvi 250 and I have been playing with custom POI's for a few days now. I was wondering if there was a way to line break the title. I know we can for the description but what about the title so that I can see like Burger King
260 king wood rd

like we have in "My favorite" and Garmin "POI".

EASY GPS PROGRAM (GPX FORMAT)

Hi, I am in the process of making my first GPX file and I am using a program called EASY GPS. My question is when I save it in this program EASY GPS will I be able to load the file I saved from the program into my Garmin c530 using POI LOADER? Is anyone familiar with this program? Thanks!

KNA-G510 and tour guide

I just got done talking to the tech support at Garmin about the KNA-G510.
The G510 is not compatible with Garmins Tour Guide. The G510 does not have mp3 capabilities. So you can add Custom POI’s with bmp files named the same and the POI’s but you can not have any spoken mp3 file associated with the POI’s.

c530 lockup

Sorry this isn't going to be more descritive-I'm trying to help a guy on another site. Here's the info. I do have. He says his 2 month old c530 locks up and "poops out". That Garmin told him to do an update, which didn't work, and then told him to wait 48hrs. Thats all the info. I have right now. I told him to keep me updated and

Downloading ROUTES from Google Maps to my Garmin (Zumo 550)

Hi all:

I've come to really like using Google Maps for route planning. But, I have not been able to download those routes to my home computer or my GPSr.

Some have suggested that I save my route as a kml file and then use GPSBabel, but I've not been able to save my routes to kml files.

POI on NUVI 760

I recently downloaded some POIs from this site. After loading on my NUVI 760 I can find them on navigate to them. However, if I am navigating to a route and try to find these business by going to "Near" the route I cannot see them. I have to go to "Extras" and click on POIs to find them. Any method to get these "extra" POI to show up on a navigated route?

Convert Nuvi 200 to Nuvi 250

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a Nuvi 200 to a Nuvi 250. I am told that the units are identical in all respects except for the preloaded map. I have one in the family and am wondering if I can erase the main map file (Canada and border US states) and load the City Navigator NT 2008 maps into the main memory.
Will doing this brick the unit?

Looking for a little GPS Guidance

cool Greetings everyone. This is my first post here on the POI-Factory, although I have been reading a lot since I first found this site just a couple of weeks ago. My eyes are now open to the many possibilities as this site has expanded the potential of my GPS. Thank you for all of the great information and tips.
