vehicle location

Crazy question. When I come to an intersection, my vehicle shows to be right in the middle of the intersection rather than at the beginning of the intersection. Not that big of a deal, but is this normal?

Didn't know if it is because the 760 is on dash, close to the vent, possibly making the satellite aim at the center of the car versus the front of the car. As mentioned, not that big of a deal, but was curious.

I checked the accuracy and I got as close as 9 ft this morning with a clear sky. Generally it has been about 14 foot accuracy, which is still great.

When I use my gps with out a having a destination programmed. I sometimes notice the vehicle in the middle of the intersection when stopped at a traffic light. But if I zoom in very close, it reads correctly that I'm before the intersection.

Thanks

Ok, that may explain it then. I usually keep it zoomed out aways. Just looks funny showing me in the middle of the intersection hahaha. My daughter is the one that noticed it. It has probably been doing that all along. Leave it to the young to notice what could have been a default. She sees like a hawk

Vehicle position...

The on screen position can vary quite a bit depending on zoom level, view option (2D or 3D), and actual speed. The faster you are traveling the more out of position it will seem because of the typical 1 second refresh rate of the units. At 60 mph you move 88 feat in that second. The GPS can only do so much with it's little pea-brain.... grin

If I zoom in, it is right on. Thanks. As mentioned, I keep it zoomed out 99% of the time. If only the car would shrink to match the size hahaha. Not a big deal.

I don't know if it just me, but I have gone from 14 feet of accuracy to 9 and 10 feet accuracy today. Nothing major, but I will take what I can get.

That's normal

The accuracy can vary with the number of satellites your unit is able to lock on to at a given moment, as well as the strength of the signals...9 to 10 feet is about as good as it will ever get with a typical automotive use GPSr.

Not bad. I still think 14 feet is good, so not complaining at all!! We finally have a clear sky, so that's probably why.

I have heard that as long as you have 3 satellites available, you are still in business.
