I was wondering what u guys prefer when u use your gps unit in your vehicles. Do u guys have it connected to the power supply when in use or do u guys charge it and then use it without the cord until the battery runs low? Any benefits for whichever choice?

I often browse though the list of POI’s I see in this and other sites and feel compelled to download ones I’m interested in but don’t (At least not large numbers of files). The reason is that I don’t want to load POI’s that may all ready be in the unit’s data base. Although some are intuitive, like the great law enforcement cameras POI files, not to be in the unit, others are not.

I want to know if there is a way to change a name of a poi? For example I downloaded Walmart yesterday and when I simulated my garmin 350 "Jill" announced I arrived at a address # instead of Walmart. Can someone help me out with this one. Thanks.

I had a Magellan Maestro for about 3 days and one of the things that I liked about it was the ability to look at the route it had calculated and give the option of excluding a specific road. I read a comment on another forum that seemed to say that this functionality was also on the 7xx series. Is this true?

Also, Has the latest firmware fixed the long satellite acquisition times?

For last few weeks, have noticed that when the unit is turned on, it takes often 5minutes or longer before it gets a sat signal. This is in wide open country, not blocked by buildings. Any thoughts?

How can I get a scroll up/down in POI description to work?. I've try "",# and alt+enter, still not work.

While trying out my brand new nuvi 660 a few days ago, it told me that there is an A&W reataurant in Sedrowoolley, in Washington St. With a bit of surprise that there might be an A&W in that small town, not far from where I was, and because I like A&W, I set out. Curiosity and hunger had me... I was on my way.

I've loaded POI's for truck stops, campgrounds, and low clearances into my nuvi 200. They show up under Extras as separate items for each cvs file (Love's, Flying J, Pilot, low clearances, etc). Regardless of the size of each file, the nuvi only displays 13 pages, 4 to a page, or 52 POI's for each file. They are the nearest 52 as far as I can determine.

Do u guys update ur file for the redlight camera each week it comes out? If so, do u just erase the old one and save the new one or does it automatically overwrite it?

I recently upgraded my c530 to the 2008 maps and had no problem loading them. I put the 48 states on the c530 and Canada and the rest on my SD card. Evrything went well and it works perfectly. My question is this: I used my laptop which has a DVD drive to install the maps and the additional programs, MAP INSTALL and MAPSOURCE. Now my Desktop computer does NOT have a DVD drive.

I would like to find out why when I downloaded bestbuy alert it does not alert me when I arrive at bestbuy. I downloaded an icon for bestbuy and that worked fine. Can someone help me out with this one? Thanks.

It seems like there aren't any kudos given to the red light cameras file, and I just wanted to tell a brief success story.

I was driving around and my c550 started beeping at me. Across the top of the screen was a red bar that said something like "warning 1mph".

Seems like it was telling me I was driving over the speed limit in a 1mph zone (the zone was 25 or 30).

Can someone explain this to me?

I was going to use Allway Sync which is a great program that provides synchronized updates. ie The file is not updated if there have been no change.

However on my nuvi 750 2303 of the 2475 files have no date. And of course file date/time are one of the criteria used for determining that the files need to be copied. So as a result Allway Sync thinks 2303 files need to be updated.

I am new to GPS and jus purchased a Nuvi 750. Is there hardware available that will enable my 750 to pick up traffive warnings? Thank you, Bmckpro

Has anyone come across a custom POI for gas stations that sell diesel fuel??

Garmin recommends 4gb SD card. I thought of getting an 8gb SD card because i need more space to load all my songs in it.
