I'm all new to this and I feel like a kid in a candy store!
Just got the 760 and didn't realize that the GTM20 cigarette lighter DC power adapter was an antennae. Is the GTM20 compatible with MSN direct or do I have to buy another antennae?
Sorry if this has been adressed, but I could not find a direct answer using the "search" functions
Thanks!
Need to buy
You need to buy the Garmin GDB50 MSN Receiver, it comes with 1yr of service (ie: around 85-90 dollars-amazon or ebay)
I went this route with my 760
Don't buy the GDB55 its newer but does not work with this unit
Welcome!
davidm33 answered your question very well, but just want to say welcome to the group ncstatesman. I'm sure you'll find a lot of great POI's and people to answer questions at this site.
Had no idea MSN receivers were different.

I am using my same old MSN receiver that I used on the 660, 680 and now 760. Only think extra I get on the 760 that I did not get on the 6** are the news and stocks etc.
Had no idea they had to be compatible.
David, all, Thanks for
David, all,
Thanks for answering my question and welcoming me - this site is pretty amazing. Anyway, it's a shame I have to spend more $$ just to get MSN direct
If you want MSN, you could
If you want MSN, you could have bought the 780, which is the 760 with MSN. However, buying the 760 and the MSN separately is usually cheaper. Go figure.
You Just like a cell phone that is bluetooth compatible. You don't get the bluetooth device free, do you?

Thsi is what I found at
Thsi is what I found at Circuit City on Black Friday about the cost.
When you buy the 780 it comes with the receiver and 3 months of service.Lifetime service about $110.00
When you buy 760 you have to buy the receiver at $119.99 with 12 months of service. Then lifetime msn after that for $110.00 total=$229.99
I have the 265 wt and thinking about MSN Direct myself and the cost figures the same way.

In this economy
In this economy, the stock quotes (though delayed 20 minutes) are essential. So I bought the lifetime.

$119 is MSRP, most places will sell it for $85-$90 or so.
I would definitely look
I would definitely look around before buying the receiver from Circuit City or Best Buy.Not much you can do about the service cost.
