C530 problem question>>>

Recently (twice in the last month or so) my C530 has reset itself after being shut down. I always turn it off then shut off my car...it stays plugged in but the accessory plug turns off with the car. When I restart my car the unit has reset to factory defaults...all favorites are gone except for custom pois.

Any thoughts on the cause/cures would be appreciated.

Regards, Ted

C530 reset

I have not seen that problem - I hope not to.
I usually pull the power on mine and let it shut
itself down after the delay. I am not sure what the
"right" way would be to shut it down. Unfortunately your issues it does not sound good.

I'd contact Garmin and see if they have any ideas.

Sorry I'm no help!

Time to get a new Nuvi.

C530 not cooperating

The only other thing I could suggest is upgrading
the firmware. Although it always makes me nervous to do that - cause I don't want to make an expensive paperweight!!!

Been thinking of that, if it happens again>>>

I will do that...if it craps its cookies I will just have to break down and get a new unit...the shame of it is I really like the 530 design and the speakers put anything new to shame.

.

I wonder if the internal battery is finished and whether having it discharge completely causes loss of the stored parameters?

If that is the situation, then a battery transplant can't be all that difficult . . .

Someone posted somewhere that Garmin stands behind the batteries for 3 years from date of purchase, so maybe you are covered, if the timing ir right and my surmising happens to be correct.

C530 battery

I hope they do stand behind them (the batteries) for 3 years that means that I have a year left on warranty????

Just update the firmware and your problems will go away? Do you have a traffic reciever plugin for the unit?

I don't have a traffic receiver will try>>>
