Garmin talk

After reading that a "corrected" 3D Buildings file had been released (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/28799) for the nuvi 7x5/zumo 66x to fix "maps locked" issues that some were having, I downloaded this fixed file and did a bit of testing. Note that I also have the original 3D Buildings file which was released with the 2011.10 map update download.

I have a Garmin 660 and just installed North America NT 2010.40 map, I still have City Navigator North America NT 2008 (It's uncheck)Often when I turn on my 660 it will say that I need to update the 2008 map, how do I delete this map?

I've noticed on the 2011.10 update, they moved them to the .xml file on the 775T. Lot's of new info in it as well it seems.

I wonder if all the problems with downloads, locked 3D maps, and other assorted problems are stemming from the fact Garmin made a mistake in releasing the Mexico Map with this update, and are trying to control the damage.

After all, they did charge $50 for it, and that would be a loss of a revenue stream for them.

What do you think?

Is it possible to only update one of the POI files that have already been transferred to the GPS? Many times I only need to update one or two POI files on the GPS, but currently have to run through the whole collection POI's with the POI loader. Seems I saw a process that would allow this, but have lost the link to it.

Can I leave the CIV extension files along with the GPX files or do I need to delete the CIV files once I load the file in the GPX format? This would be before I load the files with the POI Loader??

Just updated my 765T to 2011.10. Update process went smoothly but after disconnecting and restarting the unit, it gave me an error - "Cannot unlock Maps".

Called Garmin, and their tech support says they are aware of the issue with the new map (2011.10) and 7x5 and some zumo units. For some reason the 3D maps (or buildings) doesn't get unlocked and they will have a fix available soon.

I have a Garmin nuvi 1350, that has nothing to do with my problem which is....When I go to a download like Walmart POI's & I select the yellow box that says Garmin CSU & that take me to the download screen, I click it to download into my computer it tries to use Adobe it tells me that the Adobe reader can not open.....every attempt has failed......can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Has anyone else noticed this? On bootup there is a Canadian copyright notice which I never had before (used to be US) the 2011.10 update.

I loaded the 2011.10 map update to my 765T. In order to do so, I was required to update to 3.90 from 3.60 otherwise the map update would not progress. I now need to reinstall 3.60 in order to avoid the traffic reception problem

I have a 885t and just got off the phone with Garmin tech support.

They are having a problem with the update showing as being available on the 8xx series Nuvi's.

They are aware of it and are working on a fix that they thought would happen very quickly.

I haven't seen any other posts on this so I don't know if it is a chronic problem but I was happy when Garmin released version 4.80 for the nuvi line which finally fixed the problem with an alert causing the mp3 player to skip to a new track. The problem is that with Garmin's newly released version 4.90, the skipping problem is back - at least on my unit.

Garmin's City Navigator NA NT is now available, but only proloaded on SD cards, not the map update download that most of us want.
