I was looking through what's included in the box (just bought one) and it doesn't seem to have any software. My Quest 2 used the Map Source app from Garmin to load things onto it however I've sold that and no longer have the software installed. I used Google maps to to plan routes and save with the GPSx favorites link thing so all I need I guess is an app to get POIs and Routes copied to the device...
MapSource or Basecamp
There are many places that explain how to install either MapSource or Basecamp onto your computer.
With MapSource you need to to the training session first. With Basecamp it's just a straight install.
If you ain't got pictures, I wasn't there.
New map due?

True. Since the original poster says this is a new GPS, maybe it's due for its free map update. If so, the map update to the current City Navigator will upgrade the GPS map and also install Mapsource with the map on the owner's computer.
So, spm2600, have you registered your unit at mygarmin and checked to see if it has a free map update due (to the current 2011.10 map)?
Actually I have not recieved
Actually I have not recieved the unit yet. It's on its way. I'm just concerned how I am going to be able to load routes since no software is in the box. It sounds like mapsource software is free though?

Yes

Yes, Mapsource will be installed on your computer for free when you either get a free map update, when you buy a One-Time paid map update, or on your first map update under Lifetime map updates.
When you get your nuvi, touch Tools/Settings/Map/MapInfo and see which City Navigator is installed. If yours is a 2010 or earlier map, you'll be due a free update (to be used within 60 days or you lose it) to the current 2011.10 map.
To get the free update, register the unit on mygarmin
https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.faces
then check mydashboard to see if the unit is listed as one with a free map update due. If so, the new map will add Mapsource to your computer. Registering at mygarmin will also install Garmin Communicator on your computer.
You may want to check the threads on installing new maps. Note that the process can take 2-3 hours to complete and once or twice you may think your computer is frozen. It's not--give the update lots of time (up to many 10s of minutes) to start its processes.
It's certainly possible that your nuvi will also have new firmware available. Download and install Webupdater if you haven't yet, then run it with your new nuvi attached:

Isn't it this manual?

But at least it pointed to a manual rather than the "Getting Started" brochure.
