Aftermarket USB car charger

Hi all, I have searched and the answer has eluded me. About 2 years ago I bought an aftermarket USB car charger for my Nuvi 680 to use when it was mounted on my motorcycle and I can't find the place I bought it from. I was hoping someone on the forums might have the answer. It was about half the price of the OEM Garmin USB charger and was the only one I found that didn't put the unit into PC mode and allowed me to navigate when it was plugged in. Thanks in advance for your help!!

I've found that the chargers

I've found that the chargers and adapters on the Gomadic site:

http:www.gomadic.com

are pretty good, plus they have the advantage of flexibility with other pieces of my electronic kit.

Override PC Mode

If the Garmin goes into the PC mode when you plug it in or turn on the unit, and you want it in Navigation Mode, all you have to do is....unplug until the unit begins to boot up. When you see the map data at the bottom of the unit....quickly replug.

Voila .... Navigation Mode + the battery is still charging.

Try it ... it works for my Nuvi.

Charger

There is a discussion somewhere on this site that explained the difference between charging and PC mode. There is a pin difference that determines the mode but I don't remember which one.

I have found items like this on eBay for very reasonable prices. The are not necessarily top quality, but my experiences have been positive overall.
