Nuvi 3790T cons:

I got my 3790T for almost a week and been driving around with it, love the slim and the screen but there something I dislike and missing features:

The profile of the unit is so thin, that make it so delicate and easy broken.

The screen made by glass so therefor you will see lots of fingerprints residual.

Bulky FM and power cord.

Power button require lot of pressure when pressing.

Vent mount for Garmin??

Photo viewer slow to load the pictures. (small 400K jpg file)

MP3 player with bluetooth streaming.

Wifi built-in with Google search and maps. (just like Garminfone)

Redlight camera and speed trap alert not currently working properly.

It's just my opinions and want to share with you.

Cheers.

What camera database

What camera database did you install?

.

Redlight cameras work fine on mine.

My red light cameras work fine on the 3790.

.

While I can't comment on the rest, a 400K .jpg file may be small for a camera, but is quite large for a GPS. If a web page had a file like that, it would load slowly as well.

I install the camera

I install the camera database from this site only.

When I get close to a red light camera it pop up the icon and "beep" and the there no voice: "caution! you approaching a red light camera" just like my other Garmin 885 doing. And some intersection it doesn't pop up the icon or beep at all.

I did removed the factory sample redlight camera file from Garmin and install only file from POI Factory along with all the icon and voice files.

Names?

With the exception of the file extension, are they named the same?

edit - I see it doesn't have an mp3 player. Maybe your sound files need to be in .wav format?

That is correct....

On units with no MP3 player you must load the WAV files in the folder that contains the POI loader. I had to do it on my 1490T.

Yep

I realize that. I was wondering if he needs sox.exe before he can play the alert sounds...

My error

You are correct. You load the wav files as you would normally load the mp3 files but you load the sox.exe in the same folder as POI loader...sorry for the misinformation....

As others stated you will need Wav file and to install sox.exe on your computer.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730

Thanks for the input I will

Thanks for the input I will try to do it tonight.

My Nuvi 3790 also reboot couple time: one while driving and one when using voice command. Anyone experience the same symtom?

Thanks.

I've had mine for 1 month

I've had mine for 1 month and I've commented several times on this site that it is the best unit that Garmin has ever made. No unit is perfect but this one comes close.

Red light camera

I be able to load the wav files in the POI files folder and sox.exe in the same folder as POI loader but at the same intersection sometimes it pop up the red light camera alert and voice but sometimes it doesn't pop up or sound anything. Any idea how to fix this. I select auto optimize alert on POI loader when loading those file on the unit.
Thanks.

is there a mean for audio

is there a mean for audio out for the unit? like bluetooth or fm transmitter? anything?

No audio out.

The 37xx has no external audio out.
