Garmin talk

i currently have a Garmin nuvi and just bought a new pioneer radio that allows use of an add on nav system wondering if i should abandon the Garmin and go for the built in nav system what would id be better off doing any ideas

For those of you that have the red light and speed camera on their Garmin, can you see the locations on the map in Base Camp? This would give some indication of locations when a trip is being thought out. Thanks

Is it possible to install a memory card on a Garmin Nuvi 1450i series GPS. Directions say to insert card in slit on device, but I can't find any slit. Help! Thanks.

Since this last update on my Garmin I noticed that my Garmin Nuvi will not route me on parkways at all. It avoids them at all costs.

There is no option in my nuvi that has a setting to avoid this.

Has anyone else heard of this problem?

(1) Can anyone advise me of the exact pixel dimensions for a nuvi 2597 splash screen?

(2) What image file format does the unit utilize?

(3) What dpi is optimal?

[I've temporarily (hopefully) lost use of my USB ports on my computer and I can check the installed splash screen but I wanted to work on building one.]

Hello, just joined and thrilled to have found this site. I have a quick question. Does anyone have experience with Kenwood GPS (Garmin) car head units? The tutorial for loading POI's onto my GPS unit says that I need to connect the GPS device to a computer, but I cannot do that with my unit. It does however have a USB female connection. Is there a tutorial on how to load POI files using a USB?

I have a Nuvi 3490 LMT and I am having an issue with my Red_ Light_Camera.bmp icon flickering back and forth with a white square background when it is displayed as an alert on the map.

I created a POI file, with only 31 POI locations. "It says only 32 symbols are allowed per category. Please reorganize your symbols and rerun POI Loader"

I have a Nuvi 1490 with snowmobile maps loaded on an SD Card.

Does anyone know how to embed a custom vehicle (.SRF) in a map (gmapsupp.img) so when the map (ie selected layer in Settings>Map>Info) loads, it automatically loads the custom vehicle?

I have the vehicle loaded on the card,...

We have a new tutorial created by shershingpois that describes how to change the built-in POI icons on a Garmin.

He used turboccc's SymbolExtractor and kunix's GarminCure3 to replace some of the less interesting icons with his own graphics.

For you members that are also geocachers. If you forgot or didn't know, when you buy a new GPS you can get a month free premium membership, or if you are already a premium member it will add a month to your membership.

Nuvi 660; I have the garmen & gpx folders but no current.gpx file to transfer from this garmin to my new 54LM. Why can't anything read the file? All that is in the gpx folder is GarminExpressImport....no .gpx files anywhere....help

I have a nuvi 1300 which lost maps for no apparent reason.
I connect with a USB cable and it connects as drive F:\.

I only see the following and files(no map file??):
.System\
\Diag
\Logs
\sqlite
GPX\
Curretn.gpx

\Archive\593.gpx

Total size of all these folders is about 5.33 MB.

Properties for F drive show as follows:
Used Space; 1.60 GB

Just curious if you could load US maps onto a Nuvi model only available in Asia. For example the Nuvi 3592 sold in Asia is available with their integrated drive recorder, or dash cam. Garmin tells me no idea when or it it will! Be sold here. IMHO, this is.a great feature whose time is come and garmin is losing out on a lucrative income stream by not moving it to the US MARKET.

This time i wonder if there is an easy way to look at all of the pois in a file in my garmin?

As it is now i can easily see the 50 nearest poi and to look at the rest of the poi in my file i have to search for them with their names.
Is there any setting that can bee adjusted so i can look att all of my poi in my garmin? not just the 50 closest.

Just downloaded the new Garmin map onto my computer now there is no find options, find nearest places and comes back with no items found even when I click right over something. Map is City Nav 2014.3 Version 17.30 Windows XP Garmin 2360LMT any ideas

While I was uploading some custom POIs on my Garmin nuvi 2597LMT, I took a peek into the various file folders on the unit's internal storage. There appear to be a tremendous number of foreign language files, themes and other various files I don not think I would never ever need/use. At a glance the files appear to consume a considerable amount of the unit's internal storage.

About a month ago, my nuvi 765t was stolen, so I bought a nuvi 3490lmt that came with HD traffic from Navteq. I ended up buying a clear channel traffic subscription to supplement traffic reporting because I live in Baton Rouge, LA, which is not covered by Navteq, but is covered by Clear Channel.
