I noticed when using my TomTom 720 that there are some icons on the map that show the brand name of the company rather then just the generic symbol. McD's and Shell gas station symbols appear on the map. Is there a way to upload your own custom symbols onto the maps?

I recently bought tom-tom for palm treo version 5.04. I have some questions if anybody can help.

1. Is there a way that I can add poi's? How?
2. Updating maps?
3. can i have school zone alerts and red light alerts? How?

Stupid question...

How do I load POI files onto my tomtom?

When I put in an SD card, the device "reboots" and gives me a weird error. According to TomTom, it's trying to read the OS off the card.

Is there another way to put the POI in the GPS?

I got a TomTom One XL for Christmas. First two addresses I entered for navigation came up "no match found" argh.... one is a federal building in downtown Atlanta. FAQ at TomTom home, no help. do I already need a new map downloaded?

I recently bought this unit and am really happy with it, the only area I am in doubt about is the sd card slot. I know the O/S and everything is stored on the tomtom itself. Does anyone know how i can take advantage of this feature

1st off I want to say hello. I am new to this and this appears to be a wonderful place for information.
I just loaded my 1st poi file and bmp on my TomTomONE xl. And I was wondering how do I load my mp3 alert and have the unit recognize it? I go to edit POI alerts and it will only allow me to select the default dings it has in there. Can anyone help?

I've downloaded the latest map for my TomTom 720, however as I don't have enough memory to install it into my device, I first have to delete some content, notable, the original North America map. All of this is done via the TomTom home program. My problem is that after the program has gone through all of its machinations, there are no maps on my device!

i have a tomtom 1 3rd edition and im interested in loading some pois from here,they are in csv fromat and the tomtom is ov2,how do you change them?thanx in advance

Hi, new to the forum. Just got a TomTom Rider2 for christmas and am monkeying around with it. So far so good. Its "current application version" is 6.581

It seems to have the Can/USA map version 667.1378

I live in a town of almost 8,000 people, and there is not a single street listed on the unit.

Can anyone recommend a low-cost case for the TomTom 920? I don't see a case for the 920 on amazon; only for the 720. And it's $25.

I need to decide between Magellan 3200 and TomTom One LE. Please share your thoughts or experience to help me make better choice.

This is cool! I wasn't aware of it, and wanted to share.

Basically, Google Maps now lets you export any individual POI that you search for, directly to a TomTom device, via TomTom home.

Then, it can be set as a destination, parto of an itinerary, saved as a favorite, etc.:
