Warn when near
From the main menu:
Change Preferences
Manage POIs
Warn when near POI
You should be able to figure out the rest...
Got it!
I finally spotted it. I was trying to find a button to cancel, when I should have simply selected the POI I had set a warning on. Then the "Remove Warning" dialog comes up.
