i'm looking at magellan 3250

FWIW, I haven't seen discussion of this *anywhere*, so I am posting it here.

I have successfully loaded a redlight camera POI file and the alarms do work.

Has anyone else done this on a Magellan unit?

I have a Magellan 2200T.

I have been fooling with the POI files. I have successfully loaded a number of files, but it seems I can only have one enhanced POI file open at a time in the unit.

Is that correct, and does Garmin have that limitation?

Anyone have a chance to download the 2.36 update for the 4040? I saw it posted on the Magellan site Sunday 11/25, I started to download it but the program timed out before I had it all. I went back today 11/26 to try again and it is no longer posted. Do it think I already have it or was the update pulled?

I know this has probably been done to death already, but now that I'm a Garmin convert, I thought I would share a few observations.

i brought maestro 3225,mainly for its text to speach feature at affordable cost($199 incl taxes),but poi is only 1.3 million.it came with poi editor,which enable you to save current poi on the unit to your pc and add new ones.so i guess it shouldn't be a problem to share poi among likewise units of maestro series with 6million poi(3140 etc).guess it should be in *mgln format for sharing or downloa

Just new here and didn't see any comment of this. Just released and I upgraded my 4040 to 2.36.

They claim it fixes a whole host of issues, I haven't owned my 4040 long enough to find any... but I applied the update anyway!

I just received an e-mail from the south east regional office of AAA. They are sending me an update of their Tour Book section on the Magellan 4040. They state they will have loading instructions for me to follow. It has only been two months since I first contacted them so they have really moved out on my request from no plans for an update to this.

I just got this gps last week and decided to try and download some more restaurants because there aren't many (a lot of them in my area have closed) I downloaded two files into the proper place on my computer(My POIs) and made sure I saved them properly in excel. My computer does not show the downloaded files in the POI file. The folder is there along with all the other folders.

Anybody know if the Magellan 4040 can accept the same files as the Garmin ie CSV. format? For Custom POI purposes

I am new to the forum and I am wondering if some one have a magellan 800 and if you can share ideas and futures of this gps. what experience do you have with it?

Anyone have any luck with the Magellan Maestro series? I've got the Magellan Maestro 3225 (from Costco) - appears to be some sort of Costco rebrand because nobody else seems to sell that model, and it isn't even listed on Magellan's website!

Magellan came out with an upgrade for the Maestro 4040. It offers hands-free Voice Command & Control just like the Maestro 4050. You will need to install firmware version 2.24 to make the unlock feature available. I created a POI file using Magellan's POI editor and transferred the file to the Roadmate 2200T. The file and POI show up on the unit, but when I tap on a POI, I get this message, "This POI is not on the map, verify its latitute and longitude."

My Maestro 4040 came with a POI editor but I have two problems.

1. The manual says it has a POI manager, which I assumed had an editor and an installer. I can't find any installer.

I just installed my 1st firmware update the new Magellan Maestro 4040. The installation took a few minutes with no problems, so I thought I'd pass this along to other Magellan users. Here are the "Release Notes" for the firmware update.

I have a Magellan 2200T. Yeah, I know. Magellan has old maps and old POI files and releases no new ones, ever. I complained to them about that.

I'm gonna buy a Garmin NUVI350 or something one day.

Anyway: I installed the Magellan software, downloaded some comma delimited POI files from here and some other places.

My brother recently purchased a Magellan Maestro 4050. Does anyone have information if Magellan is offering free map updates for its respective devices in a move similar to Garmin's free updates for units purchased on or after May 1st? Just curious to what extent Magellan is willing to support its devices and customers.
