Unlock the Magellan Maestro 4040 Voice Command & Control

Magellan came out with an upgrade for the Maestro 4040. It offers hands-free Voice Command & Control just like the Maestro 4050. You will need to install firmware version 2.24 to make the unlock feature available. magellan 4040 voice upgrade

Has anyone tryed the 4040 voice upgrade, is it worth the effort?

instead of paying 99 bucks for an firmware update, get a garmin and get free firmware updates

Magellan upgrade vs. firmware

The new 2.24 firmware update is free! The upgrade for voice command is an upgrade feature that the 4050 unit at a higher purchase price already offers. Hard to believe Garmin offers free upgrades.

Yeah, but in all honesty, Garmin updates are usually for bug fixes, they dont give you extra features, especially big ones like this.

My post was for information only. Almost all units have an upgrade now and then. Even road maps are out of date the day they are printed. I did not intend to compare Magellan against other units. Let's face it, they all have their pros and cons.

what about noise

I have an older truck and the noise level is high inside, i doubt it will pick up voice commands???
