Ticket cameras

Parton the newbie question here, but I know that in Northern VA (Fairfax, Arlington, etc.), there are speed/red light cameras in place since 1995, but are they really active and operational, today? I haven't really been following the news about them but if I recall, there was a time where the General Assembly banned them and then subsequently reinstated them in 2007? Was that true?

I need some volunteers in the BC area.

WASHINGTON, Mo. (AP) -- The city council in the eastern Missouri town of Washington is pulling the plug on red-light cameras.

The Washington Missourian reports that the council voted Monday to stop using cameras at two major intersections, in large part because the number of accidents was not significantly reduced.

I noticed on last week and this week download when approaching a RLC the gong will sound with plenty of distance as before but the red banner doesn't display until I'm on top of the RLC or after having passed the location.

Any ideas?

Starting January 1st. 41 new cameras going active with no warnings to be issued.

The new cameras will be placed in school zones on Route 450 near Bowie High School and on Route 197 near Rockledge Elementary. The cameras will be operational on Jan. 17.

It seems the Red Light Cameras in Los Angeles are losing money, largely because there is no proof that the registered owner of the vehicle is the driver. So the courts have refused to enforce them. One spokesperson also said the $450 file is too high. Duh! The salesman from ATS said that to me in the parking lot at city hall!

I have found the wav files [I have a 1490LMT] for red light cameras, but canot seem to be able to download them. I've gone trough the help files, but can only download shortcuts to the website. Can you please help me?

Volkswagen sponsored a contest to come up with ideas for promoting human behavioral changes using fun-based ideas. The prizewinning entry was to have speed cameras not only ticket speeders as they do now, but to photograph vehicles going at or under the speed limit as well. The difference is that if you're "caught" obeying the law, you get entered into a lottery funded by the speeding fines!

We recently went to San diego for the weekend-and boy are there a lot of red light cameras down there! Good thing we had downloaded poi's for them. Thanks POI Factory!

On the news tonight.
Loma Linda, CA contract with Redflex is up.
They turned them off for good on Wednesday 12/1/2010.

The Mayor, Rhodes Rigsby said "These cameras are a way for city governments to legally extort money from their citizens".

So he shut them off.

In the 5 year contract period they city collected $200,000 of the $15 million in fines.

I came into Phoenix eastbound on I10 about two weeks ago and noticed a couple of speed cameras that I did not get an alert......
Have they discontinued some of these cameras?
There was some construction in the area but that never stopped them before.

If we have locals in the Sierra Vista, AZ area please let me know when these red light cameras get installed and become active.
