Ticket cameras

I was at an intersection today, and I counted 6 cars that blew the red light across my path.

I am all for a red light cam at this particular intersection, although I realize that 90% of the folks here are against it. What are the alternatives?

This is not about ticket cameras. Sorry, this was the most appropriate forum for posting this.

The court of appeals just published a ruling that you cannot look at maps on your phone while driving. Not sure if that goes for another electronic mapping device like a GPS unit, but this is disturbing.

Apparently this guy lost in court and appealed on his own without legal help and now this is a published case, which is caselaw.

Officials in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana are moving forward on plans to refund $4.7 million in red light camera tickets. Council Chairman Chris L. Roberts put forward the motion on March 13 to put an end to "a long chapter of questionable dealings" with Redflex, the Australian company that issued the tickets.

For those who want police officers to issue tickets for speeding will get their wish in Polk County Iowa very soon.

Florida City. Dixie Highway. I was stopped at a light when an ambulance approached with siren. All lanes were blocked. I decided to proceed against the light when the cross traffic stopped. The next light had a RLC. I don't know what I would have done there.

It seems that shortened yellows is again in the news. I was wondering when there would be an issue with cameras here.

Redflex Traffic Systems is losing another customer. On Tuesday, Hayward, California's city council voted 6-1 to end the use of red light cameras at the earliest possible opportunity, joining thirty-four other California cities that have decided to abandon automated ticketing.

There are 4 new red light camera locations in Opelika, AL. Basic info is in the news article linked below. Next time I am in the area of the cameras, I will update as to specific direction(s) the cameras are aimed.

In my Tom Tom Go Live 1535 I find that all my red light cameras get deleted if I do a factory restore, I'd like to be able to install all this here .(like my favorites.ov2 are saved in my documents folder from my TomTom folder is like now ..)

Has anyone here had much experience using the Escort radar detectors that work off of GPS and utilize their own RLC / Safety Camera database? I was considering an internal unit such as the 9500ci and the database updates are included for 3 years but I was wondering how it compared to the POI files on this site for the Garmin.
