Creating POI files

Does anyone know how to create POI files to use as part of the BMW built in navigation / i-drive?

Basically the format should be in 2 files. One is .udx and one is a .url file.

This site has some information and a script to convert POIs http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/imageway.htm but can only be used for POI data obtained from pocketgpsworld.com

I have looked through this forum and have not found the answer, or might have over looked it.

How do I get the BMP file to show up on the map, I can only see the BMP when I tap on the location.

What I would like is to have all the POI's in my file to so up on the map. Is this possible??

My Garmin c340 is Fedexing its way to me right now, as my family prepares for a two week cross-country trip (Texas to Connecticut). A search on this site hasn't given me the answer to a question I have.

On a lark, I created my first POI file a couple of days ago - JoAnn Fabric Stores in Oregon - for my wife. I used GPSVisualizer to send the addresses to Yahoo, and used the output as the starting point for the POI file. The first time I fed the data into POILoader, though, I discovered that the Long/Lat values were reversed. Thus began a tedious cut/paste session.

I just received my c340 and I'm having a hard time loading POI on it. Any help.

I have an iPAQ rx5915 with Tom Tom Navigator 6. I want to add some restaurants that are not on that file. I don't want to crate a new list of POI's, just add a couple to the Nav 6 existing file.

How do you get a phone icon in POI file.
I connect my cell phone via bluetooth
I can display my phone directory and dial
I can select myfavoite and dial
but I can't dial from the poi
I put "phone: 555-1212" but no icon

We are planning a family trip to Yellowstone and I would like to utilize my Garmin c340. I have figured out how to create POI's using Google Earth and POIedit and using the POI Loader to upload the c340, but how do I create a route to include those POI's/waypoints? Can I create the route in Google Earth since I already created the POI/waypoints in there?

I'm kind of new to all of this so I apologise if this comes across as "simple".

Firstly I want to work with Google Earth to create POI files but I've run into some difficulty. I followed along with the instructions found here:http://www.poi-factory.com/node/343

Have a new Nuvi 660 and adding POI's. Was wondering if there is anyway to attach a text file to a POI. What I envision is having a text file that you could tap somewhere to call up the text.
There are a number of POI's which would be nice to put hours of operation, camping info, or whatever. Maybe even short reviews of restaurants.

I downloaded a few POI files for Atlanta, one was QuiTrip locations and one for wifi locations. I had no problem converting the wifi file to Magellans format with Magellan's POI file editor, however the QuikTrip file imports fine, but when I save it only the last entry is saved. Anybody with any ideas????

What is the easiest way to get coordinates for a very long list of businesses I'm trying to put into my Poi?
Do I need coordinates, or can company name and address only be used?

Help...I've downloaded the poi loader a number of times. When I run it, the only thing that happens is that PoiLoader.exe file opens with the file I want to transfer into my C330. Then what? Nothing happens. Sorry if this sounds too simplistic.

I am about to take a trip to a single US city, and would like to create a about a hundred "My Locations" POI files of sales stops, attractions, restaurants etc.

I downloaded the POI loader from the Garmin website, but after clicking on the file to load it, it seems to disappear from my laptop? Can anyone help?

Hi! I'm a newbee. I've just purchased a Magellan 2200T. After considerable confusion (they don't give any instruction on what a custom poi is or where you can get them), I downloaded a few poi's-- but when I opened them on my system, they said the nearest was in Wyoming!

I have been fascinated with the fact that we can use .MP3 files to alert us to locations.
This afternoon I created 33 different alerts for locations where I have POI files loaded.
I used the AT&T Text-to-Speech Demo to create them.

I have spent a few hours today reorganizing the POI file categories. I have added the following categories:

Places of worship
Lodging
Grocery/Convenience
Drug Stores/Pharmacy (currently empty, could be good next group project)
Health Clubs/Gyms

I changed a lot of files today in the hopes that things will be easier to find.
