Creating POI files

I work for a school district in Texas and part of my job requires traveling to schools. Fortunately, in ten years, I have only had one school zone speeding ticket (to the tune of $275).

I am new to GPS systems and this site.
Could I use the downloaded POI file on this site (see below) to my Magelland Crossover?

I am getting ready to update and add about 25 more states to my VA Hospital file. My question is, since these are Government facilities, most have a local phone no., and also an 800 no. And, also, since some GPSr's have limited real estate on the screen, should I show both No's, the local one or the 800 one?

I saw in the Starbucks Forum that logo's appears with Starbucks proximity. All I get is a "Doing". Methinks I am behind the times - Where do I start with this logo thing? FYI - I do believe my spell checker works well.

I am trying to load a POI to my nuvi 660 but after attaching my nuvi to my computer I have to manually run the Gstart program but it does not recognize my the GPS here is a link to the error message http://www.lousrods.com/new_page_1.htm

The nuvi is visable in windows explorer

When submitting a POI file please select a category so that it is represented in our catalog.

Example, if you submit a restaurant file and don't select a category from that list when someone searches the restaurant category, your file will not show in the list.

I WAS ABLE TO DOWNLOAD LOAD THE POI LOADER
TO (2) OF MY LAPTOPS WITH NO PROBLEM,
WHEN I DOWNLOAD TO MY DESKTOP IT SHOWS UP
IN -START-ALL PROGRAM-GARMIN FOLDER.
JUST AS THE OTHERS DID,HOWEVER WHEN I CLICK ON
THE POI LOADER ICON IT COMES UP BLANK.
CAN SOMEONE HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM.

Okay, let me apologize in advance if this has been covered before. I did a context search and could not find anything that helped me.

We are putting the finishing touches on a new tool at http://www.geotourguide.com that allows you to upload your own audio content or browse a database of audio content to create a custom Garmin TourGuide .gpi file. The tool gives the user the option of including the audio or just including the location as a POI.

I just bought the Garmin 330 and would like to find out, how can I download files to my Garmin 330.
I went to the garmin web site, I downloaded their programs, but it doesn't work.
How can I download red lights and speed traps, can they go to the SD card or directly to the GPS.
What is the SD slot exactly good for?

Ok, Gang, I need your input. I got 'Top Notch Computers' put to bed, but will try to keep 'POI Verifier' going if enough desire. The bad news is since it's no longer a business venture I'll need help with the host and domain name expense ..... figure a small 'donation' of about $6 a download. I could set it up through PayPal using either a credit card (no PayPal account required) or PayPal transfer. Of course, they get their cut, but this would keep everything secure and confidential.

Another problem is since 'POI Verifier' was being revised so often I wrote it to require periodic updates to keep everyone on the same 'playing field'. For some versions the next update will be required on August 1st, making it necessary to do something soon if we want to keep it going.

So I need to know, is it used enough to make it worthwhile to keep it going?

I am trying to convert a list of 20 addresses using this site: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/ using Yahoo.

However, when I take the list back into Mapsource most all the of the addresses are incorrect.

Would it be better to only do 8 at a time and use Google.....Will this provide a more accurate POI location?

can seem to download a file, what is my problem??

I got a couple of requests asking me how I got the list as their web site only lists the nearest location you specify. So, here's how.

Can we set a standard or template for POI files? I download poi's and most are great, there are some with different formatting. I'm no expert but some files contain either too much or unnecessary information which clutters the display, while some display info which appears out of order...( ie. address before name)
Are zip codes necessary?

Currently, MapSource and GPX converter are incorrectly generating GPX files. In each WaypointExtension tag, it has a 'SchemaLocation' attribute which keeeps referencing the same schema with the same target namespace.

How much extra room is there on my Garmin C-530 to download POI, or should I just put them on a SD card, do you see another drive on the garmin if you want to used that card, and do alway's have the card in?? Thanks I'm a new user and would like to load some extra's
