Adding Text to POI -- Text Attachment?

Have a new Nuvi 660 and adding POI's. Was wondering if there is anyway to attach a text file to a POI. What I envision is having a text file that you could tap somewhere to call up the text.
There are a number of POI's which would be nice to put hours of operation, camping info, or whatever. Maybe even short reviews of restaurants.

Go and have a read...

of http://GeePeeEx.googlepages.com.

With a bit of jiggery-pokery, each POI on your Nüvi 660 can be persuaded to have a MORE button, that takes you to a second page, where you can view the sort of details you are talking about. You can use some simple <html> markup along with the text, to annotate it if you desire.

I'm not sure about the Nüvi 6xx series, but on the Streetpilot C5xx and Zümo, you can have about 5000 characters per POI.

.

Or if you you have MapSource, you can put the text in the Comments section.

RE: Go ahd have a read

Phil,

Very cool looking program. Will try it out. Getting late on this side of the pond (at least for us old people). Appreciate the response.

Mama, Don't have Mapsource.

Mama,

Don't have Mapsource. Hoping to get. Do you know how long comments can be in mapsource?

My Locations

You can also build your own POI file using the "My Locations" feature at POI Factory. It has separate fields for address / phone / notes, and these will show on the details page for a POI.

Unfortunately, most GPS models don't have a lot of display space, so the notes need to be fairly short.

Mapsource.

If you use Mapsource, then (because none of the address/telephone details are accessible), the Nuvi will try to use the description/comments in their place (on Page 1). Now, if it contains any html markup, it won't be rendered properly. However, if it is a long description, what happens is that Page 1 'overflows', a MORE button is displayed and it then displays properly on Page 2 - so you get bits of it twice sad .
That'll be what GeePeeEx Editor sorts out for you wink

Of course, the Nuvi 3xx series does something totally different with the same data - and the Nuvi 2xx/Streetpilot/Zumo something different again...
