One-way streets

I'm heading to San Francisco this weekend. Since I'm in the LA area away from downtown, I was wondering whether or not the Nuvi knows about 1-way streets and know to navigate around it.

One Way Streets

Funny you should ask the question about one-way streets. Just a few hours ago I had my Nuvi navigate to a location in downtown Charleston, SC and it do so precisely sending me the correct way on the one-way streets. My wife was skeptical about my "toy" being able navigate the one-way streets and said so. She was wrong and the Nuvi was right! There are quite a few one-way streets in downtown Charleston so I was impressed that it didn't miss any.

Officer I'm sorry I was going the wrong way on that one-way street but my GPS told me to turn left ... Oh, I'm still getting a ticket, okay then the GPS will see ya in court!

Software knows

I believe the software (navtech) is aware of them. Was in Sacramento a few days ago, the nuvi directed me correctly thru one-way streets to my locations.

Example: it told me to turn right, on to a one-way street. But I couldn't due to street construction. So I continued forward, it just recalulated and told me to take the next right two blocks away (next block was a one-way street in the opposite direction)

One Way Streets

In Dallas and in northern VA navtech has correctly allowed for one way streets (all except for the recent changes from one ways to both ways streets). But those should be picked up in the next or subsequent update.

Lost on Paradise

The only problem I have had with one-way streets was in Las Vegas when my Garmin tried to send me the wrong Way on Paradise Avenue. But there was a lot of construction there and if I recall correctly from previous trips, Paradise Avenue near the airport used to be a two way street and only got changed recently to a one-way street.

So unless its a recent change or a new street, the maps seem to have the one-way streets correct.

you may get a few errors

you may get a few errors regarding one way streets if the streets have been changed and your unit map is outdated. I recently moved back to Houston from LA about 6 months ago. Boy houston has changed a lot. I currently have v8 maps and let me tell you. With all the changes going on in Houston, my nuvi v8 nt n. america is not very accurate. it misses on ramps and off ramps. some places it tells me to use the roundabout to get onto the freeway, but since the road construction they've removed such on ramps. so, it really depends if your unit has been updated to the latest and greatest maps. even so, it will never be 100% accurate. change is somewhat good, but for garmin. each map update is $75.

One-Way

No problem with "many" one way streets during visit to San Antonio last week !
C330 with V8 did a GREAT job !
