Garmin talk

I just purchased the Garmin Nuvi 360 and noticed the unit says street names ending in "a" as a silent "a".

For example "Marmora Av." sounds like "Marmor Av."

Has anyone else noticed this?

how do i find out what version of City Navigator N. America i have on my newly acquired nuvi 350. Thanks, great site by the way.

I have a C330 and have seen various discussions on how many custom POI's it can hold. I seen 2MB and Garmin replied to my email query with 3MB. I was wondering how many POI's this equates to. Also, how many do you have loaded into your units? I have 15,918 (so far).

this garmin navigator is available for 384$ only.this is new brand and 1 of the easiest and best to use.

I just noticed my icons for Home and other Favorites just reset back to black circles...

I don't know how or exactly when this happened. I even manually selected the icon and when I power off/on, they reset back to circles.

Garmin just recently wrote me back about the Time Update for the c340. Here is their response.

OK, I think I figured out what my next unit is going to be. Problem is I can only find it online. Does anyone know of a national chain I could find the Quest? I don;t think it's discontinued. any input from anyone regarding this model? Tahnks

I just received my City Navigator Europe SD card today! YEAH!

But... how the heck do I use it HERE (in USA)?

I have a nuvi 350.

I went into the settings > map info and disabled the North America maps. I tried setting my "home" to Munich, Germany. But, the device still shows my current location here in the USA.

How does one add a proximity alert?

I currently own (and enjoy) my c330. I have come into some extra cash and was thinking about upgrading to the 550. I would, however, need to sell my 330 to do so.

Question: Is the 550 worth the extra $$$? I like the though of being able to use the BT with the cell phone... but is anything else with the 550 make it much better?

Hello everyone I'm trying to findout if anybody has received a Mapsource Update from garmin that included City Navigator V8? I have gone to the website ordered it because I have a unit and I am entitled for the update and have been waiting for this "free" CD for over a month.

Garmin updated the C550 Unit Software to Ver 5.4 on March 16th 2007.

was hoping I could get some input on which unit might best serve my needs. I have a C330 for my company demo, but am now interestedin getting something for my personal play truck. I go offroading somewhat frequently & would like to be able to load topo & other trail maps for offroad use. Basicly a mix between etrex & road navi.

Question for Nuvi users:
my vehicle is a diesel and am having difficulty easily locating diesel specific fuel stops with my 660. I see details in the background of listed sites but strongly prefer not to scroll details while driving. Is there a 'hidden' feature to bubble diesel up as a search-able option.

Hi there - got a new Nuvi 360 and so far love it other than price dropped almost 100 bucks with in a day that I bought - hope amazon has some sort of price match guarantee...

I have a new Garmin 2820. I understand that the traffic avoidance feature is only as good as the city's update of the traffic information. What I don't understand is the settings on the avoidance option screens. I called Garmin, since the owner's manual has no reference to it's use.

They were sold at a loptop price (350 $450-$550; 360 $550-650).

Since the "generic" GPS (such as MIO C310X) have been sold for under $200. The pressure is building up. Recently, Costco started selling 350 for $350, Amerzon is following. Last time I checked, a 360 is for ~$460. Another $50 drop will make these units more reasonablly priced.

Is it just me or does the 660 now have a 'predictive' feature when going through tunnels. I drive through Boston and its tunnels (dodging ceiling tiles and waterfalls) quite frequently. I know that I used to get the "Lost Satellite Reception" about 1/4 the way through - understandably since you travel over 100' underground.
