Map Version... How do I know what I have?

I have a Nuvi 200 that I just bought through Woot.com and it's my first GPSr. How can I tell what version of mapdata is installed in the unit? I can't find and version data in the software, and the Garmin site is less than helpful as well...

Thanks,
Dave

Wrench/Settings > Map > Map Info

It should say City Navigator v8 or v2008.

I would be interested to see if Garmin will provide free map updates to units purchased through Woot. (Nothing wrong with Woot or the units. Just wondering.)

To check the unit to see if the latest mapping is installed please follow the steps below:

1. On the main menu tap the 'Settings' or 'Wrench' icon.
2. Tap the 'Map' icon and then tap 'Map Info'.
3. This will show the version of mapping the unit has loaded in it.

Ah, you are correct. I had

Ah, you are correct. I had been to that screen several times, but i was looking for a button in the main screen area, and not in the lower "toolbar" area. Silly me.

It says:
City Navigator North America NT 2008
[1] City Navigator Lower 48 States NT 2008

Hopefully, they will offer the updates no matter where you got it. smile

Thanks again for the help,
Dave

Luckily for you, you won't need to find out since you already have v2008.

My thought would be that they might not provide free updates to units purchased from a liquidator. But they might.
