I'm new, help (latest maps for c330?)

I purchased my c330 at the end of August/07, but i'm not sure if I have the lastest maps. When I registered my GPS on garmins site, its says I have this.

City Navigator North America NT v8 Limited, Deluxe All Regions, Apr 06

Is this latest map? or is there a newer one? I've read some of the other threads but I'm not sure.

little help please

Thanks.

Not current

No, it is not the most current. The most current is now on v2008. You are only one version behind though. Make sure that you contact Garmin and ask for a free upgrade, they should give it to you with no issues.

You need to get the map update

If you have not registered your unit yet - do that. Then, sign-in to your personal "myGarmin" web site that is created as a part of the registration process, and there will be a link there for map updates - following that link should take you to a page where you can have a map update sent to you.

It brings me to a page where I would have to pay for the new maps, but asianfire says I should get this for free, do I need to contact garmin support and ask for it?

I didn't do as kch50428 did,

I didn't do as kch50428 did, I called. I didn't realize that you could do it the way that he describes so I am not sure.

All you need is the serial number behind the gps unit. smile

They will also most likely tell you that you are not eligible for the free map upgrade, and will try to offer it to you at 1/2 price as a "Good Gesture" on their part. DONT ACCEPT! Explain to them that you don't feel that is fair since you just purchased the unit. Ask to talk to a supervisor and they will put you on hold. After 5 mins or so he will come back on and tell you they will make a exception if you can fax them a copy of your sales receipt and a copy of the yellow sheet that you should have that came in the box that shows the serial # of your unit.

They are out of the new maps at the moment, so you will have to wait awhile for them to ship it. I'm still waiting for mine.

.

Technically, the c330 is officially on Garmin's "not eligible for a free map update" list. However, since you just purchased your unit, call anyway and request a free update. You will likely be told that the unit isn't eligible because the full North American maps won't fit on the unit, which is true. However, politely persist and you may be successful. It may take a few phone calls to get it.

Or you may not. And then you would have to purchase it. You can get the update for less than $60 at Provantage.

Either way, if you get the update to the maps, be aware that the full update WILL NOT FIT on the c330. You will have to select the "lower 48" or Canada. The map update installs directly to the unit and not to the SD card.

If you need all of North America, there is a work around to install the lower 48 to the unit and then install the rest to the SD card as a supplemental map.

Free map update

Rugar and Motorcycle Mama are right on the money!

Be nice and persistent, I purchased my C330 in May ’07 and got the map update 2008 for free. Also, if the first rep says no, keep calling till one of them says okay. It worked for me, it can work for anyone. smile

reverse possible?

Is it possible to do the reverse? I live in Canada, so I would rather have Canada loaded into the internal memory, then place the US on my SD card for when I make my trips south of the border.
