Garmin talk

My MSN Direct has stopped working after one or 2 days. I have left the unit plugged in and although there appears to be full bars for reception it is not getting any updates.

I have already reactivated the subscription as the MSN website suggested. I have called MSN and they recommended resetting the unit. I have tried this but to no avail.

While uploading a POI file I accidentally deleted all the files on my Garmin Nuvi 200. How do I restore the original maps settings etc.?

I have some recordings of classical music in the lostless FLAC file format. Supposedly it loses no sound quality due to compression.

I was about to convert them to MP3 but then wondered if its possible that someone has found a way to have the Nuvi support FLAC.

It appears that the Nuvi 8x0s will support FLAC right out of the box.

I came across an interesting difference between the 2008 and 2009 maps and the voice trigger on my Nuvi 750.

There's a traffic circle near work that gets handled differently:

2008 Map selected:
"Drive .4 miles, then enter roundabout."
As I enter the circle:
"Enter roundabout, then take third exit"

2009 Map selected:
"Drive .4 miles, then bear right."
As I approach the third exit:

I am loosing confidence in my nuvi 350 lately. I was traveling south in Texas and checked the route I wanted in Mapquest and Microsoft Streets and Trips. Sitting at home I checked the route on the GPS and it was the same so I was good to go. When I started out the GPS had a new route that was longer and made no sense except it had a longer distance on interstate.

How do you track these? After their done with your gps will they just automatically send it back to you without any knowledge or will they send you a email after they send it out?

I just purchases a NUVI 760 and so far I have had nothing but problems.

1. I went to upgrade the unit from firmware 2.3 to 2.9 and I god the dreaded "system software message". Evidenlty Garmin has disabled the preboot feature in this series so I had to send it back and wait for a new one.

Okay - I have a Nuvi 350 with the North America NT 2008 maps. I just assumed that "North America" would include Mexico - I guess I assumed wrong since someone told me that it didn't. And from what I have now read, it looks like it doesn't. I'm making a trip to Mexico for 2 weeks and want to get maps. Whats the easiest way?

Hello everyone, I just joined this forum because of the great info I have been reading on here. Thought it would be a great place to solve a problem I am having.

Wondering what are the changes and whether needed. The log on Garmin's website said improved map update compatability, but it's kind of confusing as the only map I update is Garmin's map, isn't Garmin's own map compatible with itself?

i can't seem to access any feature for this! all i see in a setup menu is that it is enable. by default, when will the alarm go off if i'm near a poi? is there a way to edit this?

Just bought a Garmin 7200 and am wondering if I can download POI's from this site using my Mac. The Box does not say MAC on it and I am totally confused, when I called Garmin support they said that it is not MAC compatible. New to GPS and am learning from trial and error and at this point I need some help.

Hello Friends - a simple question - I already have POI's downloaded onto my Nuvi 350 - I wish to add and additional file - once downloaded onto my hard drive and into my POI folder can I download this single file as an addition to my POI's already loaded or do I need to download all files again.

I have a cvs file called Advance Auto Parts plus the icon and alert in my poi folder. When I load the folder into my nuvi 350 I cannot find it in my custom POI's. What determines the poi's that show on the menu ?????

Just bought a zumo 550 downloaded poi's (walmart) how can I tell if it was done?

I am technology challenged....Is there a detailed step by step instruction manual on how to use the different functions on the gps and how to make catagories in favorites such as gas stations etc......and can the sd card be left in the nuvi 350 with poi's stored on it and will they be accessed by the gps?

How do you really do a backup?? It isn't like windows where you select it and wait forever?

Or do you just copy the Garmin files to another folder on your computer and label as backup with a date?

What is the best procedure to do this?

When I placed the I-95 speed alerts into the Garmin POI loader, it states that the default speed is 95MPH

I changed the number to 70, Exactly what does this setting do?

Defaulted to 90 automatically and loaded by the express method would get us all tickets if we relied on it, wouldn't it?

I don't understand this setting or how the distance in feet versus the speed would be better?
