I'm a new Nuvi 660 user and really like it so far. We leave for 19 days in Scotland tomorrow and we're taking our Nuvi. I've got the UK maps on SD card and I've listed as favorites all the B & B's we're due to stay at. I"ve downloaded some POI's of castles, distilleries, etc. So now the big question is how long will it take the Nuvi to realize it's 6000 miles away when I plug it in in our rental car?

I was in Brazil and I took my emap (way old technology), told it I was in a new location, and it found me in about the same time it does at any new location. My c550 finds a new location really quickly so I would expect it would do the same anywhere it can see the sats..

Pending which airline you fly on, some let you use it. You should try turning it on for a while and track some of your flight. It is interesting to see what parts of Ireland and England you are flying over so you can pick them out with the nuvi.
How long
I was in Maui last year with my 660 and found that acquisition of satellites from a cold start was quite fast. I didn't notice it taking any longer than when I was at home. Probably < 1 minute in my stationary rented car. When I got back to my car near the airport (back at home)I just started to drive and it took 2 maybe 3 minutes to acquire satellites, so it wasn't really much different than when I'm at home.
