Garmin talk

Can this model of garmin use both GPX and CVS? I am having trouble with the CVS. Help Please!!

It seems to me there are a lot of people buying GPSs that have not fully researched the topic first.

I was wonderin if anyone knew if there was a way to make the nuvi display rest areas and mile markers on the display map?

We just used our Garmin Nuvi 760 for the first time on a two-week trip. It was great. We used it rather than the GPS unit built into our car after a brief comparison of the two as we traveled the first 25 miles. The Custom POIs make the Garmin the unquestioned choice!

I do, however, have some questions and needs that do not seem to be handled by the 760.

hey, hey, I'm a new GPS user and have a Garmin Streetpilot 330C. I would like to down load some of the files located here but wish to know if any one has had any experiece with doing so on a this Garmin model.

If so please note your experience and what you found that worked best for you.

i was reading about SirfInstantFix and was wondering if my Nuvi 760 has this.
i went to my system/ about and found a folder "Sirf"
and it says: Powered by SirfInstantFixII 2008 Sirf Technology

now i don't know how much better my unit picks up satelites, but i enjoy my Nuvi7060 very much

Recieved my nuvi 255w 3 days after there release. This is a great unit for those who just want a gps for mapping. The new interface includes: speed and directional travel at bottom of map,next turn arrow and distance in top left, next turn street accoss top, and the speed limit on roadway on left. New features allow the unit to remember the satellite location so very fast at turn on.

I have had the new nüvi 880 for two days and am having a great time seeing what is new or different. The first impressions are that I like it.

I have a nuvi 750 which is doing a great job for me. I would like to add MSN direct. Does anybody know if it is available for the 750? Does anybody have one working now and how good is it?

Why are some red light camera files (locations) removed ?
Does it mean that the camera was removed from the intersection?

Garmin announced the new Nuvi 860 today, adding another sibling to the 850 and 800 which were previously available. In fact, the new 860 is exactly like the 850 except the 860 adds Bluetooth hands free calling. Want one? Well you had better not be in North America as the Nuvi 860 is only being released in Europe.

I recently purchased a Nuvi 350 and updated the 2009 map and loaded some POI files (Like National Parks). Because I'm a newbie and haven't yet taken a trip in my camper with the GPS, I don't quite understand how the files function. I know how to view the Poi files on my unit, but I was just wondering how to operate them during a trip.

Got a Nuvi 660 which I loaned to my daughter for a trip from Orange County to downtown Los Angeles. The route it gave her coming home took her on surface streets through some parts of town I would not go through if given a choice. Is there any way to set up the Nuvi to avoid certain routes or areas?

Firstly, this may not be the correct forum for these questions, but here goes. I will try to explain completely what I am attempting to do, so I will apologize in advance for the long post.

I have downloaded several POI files, along with associated MP3 and bitmap files, and loaded them into my nuvi 260W using the POI Loader. Each MP2 and bitmap file had the same name as the associated csv files. However, I can't get the nuvi to alert me as I approach a listed location, even though the POI alert box is checked in the system file. Can anyone help me with this?

I called Garmin support and after waiting quite a long time on hold I had the misfortune of getting someone that didn't know "jack" about it. No clue! This was of great disappointment. The same was true with support @ Msn Direct. Never got the promised return call from the "Supervisor" LOL.

the garmin nuvi 350 is on sale right now on amazon for 199! no taxes and free shipping to boot. just picked one up a week ago, happy hunting.

So I have a POI file that has all my race tracks I go to in it. Is there any way to make a category for it in my garmin so once i upload it, it's easy to get to?

I just bought the Nuvi 260 yesterday. I tried it out today and I think I have a problem. I updated the software thru the Garmin Website yesterday.
