a missing city in MARYLAND!

I have on my nuvi 660 the free north american map i got from the mail. tonight i was looking for the westin hotel in national harbor, md. looking at my maps, the city nor the streets exist!
I just got this map update maybe 5 months ago (2008 version perhaps?).. sucks!
now all i have to do is map in the nearest venue from there (potomac vista recreation) and have to refer to google maps exactly where these missing streets are and make the correct turns to get to my true desired destination.
and by the look of google maps, the place looks under construction as well!

.

Since the entire city was just developed within the last year, there's no way that it would be in the 2008 map data. It takes usually 3 - 5 years for new roads to make it into the map data.

National Harbor roads

Motorcycle Mama is correct - National Harbor was developed within the past year, and the hotels and convention center opened only a few months ago.

On a side note, I work for a construction company and created a POI file of its active projects across the country, since I have to travel to most of the sites. Anyway, three of our projects are at National Harbor, so the POI's for those sites are located in an "open field" next to the Potomac River.

Hopefully they'll add the roads in next year's map updates, especially since the neighboring interchanges with the Beltway and I-295 were recently reconfigured.

I have a better idea about GPS listings of cities...

...what city, or POI's within a city, would you like to see erased from the map, and from existence?

I'll start off. Capital Hill and the White House. That way we wouldn't have to endure any more 2 year long campaigns of blathering idiots who promise everything, and accomplish nothing other than stoking their egos, funding their wallets, and finding new ways to stick their feet in their mouth, or drive into the Tidal Basin.

Was this really necessary?

"recently configured"

that it is! i was going down the road known as 395 when looking at it.. it was actually 295.

sometimes i wish there was an auto update in these maps. a subscription we can get from their site or somethin.
