Garmin talk

I picked up the Garmin Drivesmart 61 to replace an old Garmin.

While the new screen is a lot better, I drive around Los Angeles and the screen is full of Icons for Banks, restaurants and gas stations.

Is there anyway to turn off these pop up icons???

I guess that in years gone by, I mistakenly, deleted custom POI's by sending them to trash while hooked up to my laptop. Now, I can't get rid of duplicates, as listed on the NUVI's custom poi screen. The files only appear once, on my laptop, as I look at the Garmin Poi directory.

Using my W10 PC I have just succesfully updated the software and maps on my nuvi 2597LM, but the PC was then unable succesfully to eject/safely remove the device. After trying, Windows Explorer failed to respond and could not be closed using Task Manager.

Ready to install.

Are all TA20 power supplies the same?

I need to replace mine for my NUVI2555LMT. Found one on Amazon, but not sure if OK.

I reported to Garmin UK yesterday that occasionally, the speed limit on the satnav screen would change to 2mph. This is random, no particular location, stays there for up to one minute then the speed limit changes back to the correct one. This also occurred on my last unit - a DriveSmart 61.

On my recent trip to Ashburn, VA I noticed something strange with my Nuvi 265WT. Several times it indicated incorrect distance to the next turn. The map display was correct showing the turn, but even when I had arrived at the intersection where the turn was clearly showing on the map the distance indicator in the top banner might indicate the intersection was still 3 or 4 miles ahead.

I have two 2597LMT. One won't connect, the other is fine.
Two still older 2360s have no problem so it's not cable.

When I upload to the memory card in my GPS, what's the best format to use to make the files easy to find and use?

I have a 2018 Honda CR-V Touring which has a Garmin based Navigation. Is it possible to put Red Light Alerts in the system? I have a Nuvi 3790 LMT that I know how to install them.

Although I loathe Garmin Express, I have had to download it because the Garmin Map Updater is still telling me that 2019.20 is the current version, when the Garmin website says that is 3 versions behind.

I loathe Garmin Express. I have been using Garmin Web Updater and Garmin Map Updater for years. The Web Updater still seems to be working. The Map Updater, not so much. Has anyone developed a conversion for Allstays POI's. Looks like they're not in delimiter format.

Q: I purchased a used 395LM. Works great but need help with maps. I successfully upgraded to the 2020.20 map. The issue is that the unit also came with the Europe map installed in the internal drive. The SD card is new and empty.

I have a Nuvi and use POI loader to load up POI's from here but I was thinking of getting a Garmin Dash Cam and noticed it shows RLC's etc. using Garmin Express. Does anyone know if the POI's from here would work on that unit or only some proprietary thing from Garmin only? In other words, would POI Loader work with that unit?

Ok i have seen the post about "Weigh Station POI" but it does not cover what if you dont get the option to pop up in the menu to turn it on or off

IE:
This option is visible only if you have proximity points or safety cameras loaded on your device. Proximity points include custom POIs and safety camera databases.

I do but its still not sowing up the option.

I'm torn between two GPS units. I have a Magellan N393M-4300 and a Garmin Nüvi 255w. I like that the voices and vehicle icons are customizable on the Garmin, as well as the speedometer and elevation meter.
I like that the Magellan has lane assist, shows the next two turns ahead. But I especially like that it plays a chime at the actual intersection where you make a turn.
