Garmin talk

I have a Garmin Nuvi 265WT in my car. For last 6 months or so it has been having trouble finding satellites from time to time. Sometimes no issues at all and the other extreme it can take 5 minutes of driving down the road before it kicks in. Is there an easy fix for this or has my Nuvi become E-waste.

I just realized that I can no longer create a customized itinerary from Mapquest to send to my GPS. Is there an alternative out there, a piece of software that would allow me to do this?

I've been searching on this site but so far I've been unable to find the information, if it does exist.

How far ahead does the nuvi find services? Anybody knows?

I have a marine Garmin GPSMap 182c color chart plotter. This unit has a little door where you insert a chip that loads detailed chart data into the unit.

My problem is the slot for the card, the "card reader" itself (I think).
The GPS does not "read" the data from the card. I take the card to a different gps unit and that unit displays correctly.

Hi all I have just updated the softwere on my 3490LMT but now it will switch on but will not connect to iMac either in MTP OR MASS STOTAGE it just stays on the first screen (where to and view map.

I'm helping a friend with their 2597. I have 2555, but not familiar with 2597. The firmware has not been updated and map is 2014.2.

1. On the 2555 I can set the dashboard to show four functions on bottom of nav screen. How do I do that with 2597?

I was looking at both the Garmin RINO series and the Garmin Monterra and I was thinking that a hybrid of those two devices would be quite handy. Essentially a Garmin Monterra with a built in two way radio. It would be nice to have when you are "off the grid."

As I thought about this, I was shocked to see "DEM basemap" offered on some pretty ancient Garmin GPS devices like the old nuvi 8x5 series.

I never had a junction file for the 660, so I didn't follow those threads much, other than to take note that upgrades would sometimes not load one, or load a smaller file.....

Now that we own a Nuvi 2689 I guess it's time to take notice.... and start asking questions....

On the 2689, where would the junction file reside.....

And What size or sizes would it be for 2015.40?

I have 5 different Garmins and for years they all just kept on ticking. So I was surprised when my daughter said her screen was all messed up. I looked at it and sure enough, calibration was off.

So I have been doing HERE's Map Creator for awhile now and have been making additions and changes in other countries. Now, HERE has *just* made it where you can apply to edit the United States. I have applied and was granted editing privileges.

With the latest update, I am now getting the annoying warning message every time the unit turns on. Before the update, the unit would turn on and go right to the main page. Is there any way to turn off the warning? Anyone else noticed the same thing happening?

Recently, I charged my Nuvi 3490lmt with an android tablet charger for a couple of hours. After unplugging my 3490lmt, the battery was fully charged but the touchscreen was unresponsive.

Everything was working fine accept the touchscreen. For example, I could use "voice command" to navigate, etc.

Then all of a sudden after about a week, the unit is working perfectly, go figure.

When I get the latest map update, I install the update to the device (1450) and the computer using MapUpdater.
My question is: should any of the three 1450 map files get corrupted, etc., is there a method to recreate these map files from the update files on the computer?

I looked in the FAQs but was unable to locate any info on this. I'm probably not looking for the correct terms.

I get "file not found" when I try the links for the large JCV file...

I am using Basecamp more now that I am having problems with Mapsource not recognizing certain areas of my maps. The question I have is in Mapsource you could always right click on a selected map and choose properties and then see total miles and estimated time of travel. I can't seem to find that info in the Basecamp maps I create.

Any suggestions on files to delete in order to get the latest Garmin map update onto a Nuvi 1450 without having to get an SD card?
