What a shock—I received an email from Garmin today: $10 off a GPS for recent graduates. surprised

I did see an interesting note in the email, something I didn't know. It was (with my added bolding):

Garmin is proud to work with HERE maps, formerly NAVTEQ maps. HERE keeps our maps fresh, accurate and reliable by making 2.7 million changes to them each day.

Hard to believe?

Lets see ... 50 weeks, 5 days/week, that would be about 675 million changes per year. Maybe they measure road changes in inches?

It should. I've been living at my present address for 27 years and it still wants to point me up to a intersection about 1/8 of a mile away. Correct street but an address that does not exist.

If only they would make some of the reported changes needed in my area. Fixing the spelling of roads would be good too.

What was wrong with the name "NavTec" ?

I thought it sounded better than HERE.

The land area of the Earth is 57,308,738 square miles. On the average, HERE makes a change every 21.225 square miles. What a hoot!
